Company: PerkxAbout Perkx & Why This Role is Cool At Perkx, we are building a cool new app that is about to change the game, and we are currently gearing up for our big launch! This means you won’t just be maintaining someone else’s legacy code; you’ll be right in the engine room as we launch and scale from the ground up.

This role is a unique hybrid: you get the fast-paced, high-impact environment of a pre-launch startup, combined with the mentorship and stability needed to kickstart your graduate career. If you want your code to actually matter on day one, this is where you want to be.

The Role You'll take ownership of the backend: our Postgres database and the serverless functions that run subscriptions, payments, scheduled jobs, and third-party integrations. That's where most of your time and energy will go.

However, you won't be siloed. You'll also work across our Flutter apps occasionally—pushing a backend change all the way through to the screen that uses it, rather than handing it off to someone else. You’ll see the full lifecycle of the features you build.

What You'd Actually Work On

- Subscription Billing: Handle Stripe subscriptions end-to-end—trials, plan changes, cancellations, resumes, and the webhooks that keep our database honest about all of it.
- Scheduled & Time-Sensitive Logic: Build jobs that run on a clock, state machines with deadlines, and tackle the concurrency problems that come with both. Some of our most interesting engineering sits here.
- Database Design: Write schema and migrations, implement row-level security (RLS) policies, and write the Postgres functions that hold our business rules. This is the deep end, and it's where you'll grow the fastest.
- Integrations: Connect with payment, email, and push-notification providers,



including the unglamorous but critical work of making webhooks 100% reliable.
- Analytics Pipelines: Build aggregation jobs powering the live reporting that our business clients see in their dashboards.

What We're Looking For? Required
- Education/Experience: A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or similar—OR a portfolio of things you've actually built and shipped (which counts just as much to us!).
- Real SQL Ability: You can confidently write a multi-table join with aggregation, and you understand exactly why a transaction and an index exist.
- Language Basics: Working knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript—enough to write and debug a server-side function from day one.
- Communication: You can explain your technical reasoning clearly and concisely in writing.
- Attention to Detail: You care deeply about correctness.

Our platform handles people's money; a bug here isn't just cosmetic, it matters.

? Nice to Have (Genuinely Optional)
- Any exposure to Supabase or Firebase (a university project or a weekend hackathon build is a perfect signal!).
- Flutter or Dart experience.
- Prior experience touching a payments API (Stripe, PayPal, etc.).
- Any Postgres knowledge beyond the basics (e.g., RLS, triggers, window functions).
