Lead the credit function for a growing non-bank lender, overseeing a high-performing underwriting team across residential, commercial and construction lending. You'll manage complex credit decisions, mentor the team, improve credit policy and processes, and work closely with senior leadership to drive strong commercial outcomes while shaping the future direction of the credit function.

The Role

As Head of Credit, you'll be responsible for leading the day-to-day credit function while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team and maintaining strong credit outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include

- Leading, mentoring and developing a team of experienced underwriters.
- Overseeing the assessment and approval of residential, commercial and construction lending applications.
- Providing guidance on complex credit scenarios and policy interpretation.
- Working closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to structure deals and deliver the best commercial outcomes.
- Partnering with Operations, Treasury and senior leadership to continuously improve the lending process.
- Driving improvements across credit policy, underwriting standards and operational processes.
- Helping shape the future direction of the credit function by identifying opportunities to improve the way the business assesses and manages risk.

About You

We're looking for an experienced credit leader who combines strong technical expertise with commercial judgement and a genuine passion for leading people.

You'll be someone who doesn't simply apply policy or think within the confines of the credit process. Instead, you'll have a critical thinking mindset,



be comfortable challenging conventional thinking where appropriate and enjoy working collaboratively to find the best outcome for the business.

You'll understand that credit decisions don't exist in isolation. You'll have your finger on the pulse of the broader credit market, stay across changing market conditions and recognise how lending decisions today can influence the future performance of the portfolio, customer outcomes and the long-term success of the business.

You'll also be someone who enjoys mentoring others, contributes to the direction of the team and is always looking for better ways to improve processes, support growth and strengthen the credit function.

You'll ideally bring:

- Extensive experience across residential, commercial and construction lending.
- Previous leadership experience within a credit or underwriting team.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance risk with opportunity.
- A collaborative leadership style with the confidence to challenge ideas and contribute strategically.
- A forward-thinking approach with a strong understanding of the broader lending and credit market.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
