Summary of the Role

As part of a small IT team, The AMOG ITS System Admin designs, commissions, maintains and enhances the IT systems functions for our offices in Melbourne and Perth (Australia) and our office in Houston, TX (USA), in accordance with set policy and quality standards of security, integrity and availability. The role itself is based in our Melbourne office in Mount Waverley.

Role Description This role is responsible for maintaining and administering servers, workstations, and core IT infrastructure, ensuring stable and secure operation of systems that support AMOG’s engineering and consulting activities. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring system performance, managing user accounts and permissions, applying patches and updates, and maintaining data backup and recovery processes. The ITS System Administrator will support network operations, diagnose connectivity issues, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve technical problems in a timely manner.

The role also involves providing technical support to team members, documenting procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement of IT standards, security practices, and tools. Duties and Responsibilities

Demonstrated working knowledge of following technologies: Maintaining and managing Apple environment, Windows, Linux, AWS, AZURE, VMware, Google Suite, Office 365, NAS-NetApp, LAN (routing, switching, Wi-Fi), WAN, Firewalls, Antivirus, UTM devices, Backup Servers – Symantec (Veritas) Backup Exec and Bacula(or any other major backup system), VOIP System, Mobile device management tools, Hosted web environment, Licensing application server, and any new services incorporated in the system.





Providing support for issues escalated from front-end / help desk IT support (for end point desktop devices mainly comprising Apple Macs, OSX Server, Windows and Linux clients).

Monitoring, tracking and resolving designated or team addressed help-desk tickets.

Evaluating and rolling-out new hardware, software products or solutions on need basis.

Documentation of IT Standard Operating Procedures.

Liaising with vendor support to resolve issues.

Keeping IT infrastructure, hardware and software and resulting services at its agreed, safe and optimum version level and carry out upgrades as required.

Complying and maintaining agreed-upon ITS policies and quality standards on security, integrity and availability of ITS data and services. Preparing IT reports and track IT assets.

Keeping overall health of data centres across AMOG sites – Melbourne and Perth and Houston. Which includes occasional travel to Perth AMOG office.

Keeping knowledge-base up to date for AMOG ITS

Keeping track of health and readiness of backup recovery and disaster recovery in place.

A desire to up-skill as needed to execute the above duties and also learn recent skill-sets based project demands Your contribution will be evaluated on your positive service oriented approach, zeal for fast leaning and adaptation to the workplace, asking the right kind of questions, completing the tasks with required quality and timeline, contribution to team efforts, persuasive and result oriented troubleshooting, understanding of business critical service support approach, communication and documentation and contribution to improve ITS work environment with constructive initiatives and suggestions.

Qualifications - Candidates should have:

Minimum TAFE qualifications required,



bachelors degree preferred.

High level verbal and written communication skills.

A minimum of 3-4 years of experience and must possess strong communication and documentation skills, as well as an understanding of basic ITIL processes.

Windows Server, ADS, Linux, OSX, LAN, WAN, VPN, VMWare, NFS, Samba, SAN/NAS.

Experience with NetApp.

Experienced in Backup Solutions using Veritas Backup Exec and tape drives or any similar technologies.

AWS, Azure, MCSE, CCNA, VCP certification.

Experience working as part of a business IT Help Desk function .

Working knowledge of Linux/Unix server side administration and computer network troubleshooting.

Familiarity with supporting desktop program installations, upgrades and configurations in a combined Mac and Windows (XP/7/8/10) desktop environment.

Experience in managing vendor support for troubleshooting.

Ability to effectively manage and complete multiple demanding tasks within allocated time frames.

Ability and willingness to develop both technical and customer service skills on the job.

ITIL certification (desirable) and/or willing to become certified – understanding of basics ITIL processes. Well developed skills in an Apple Mac environment, Windows Desktops, Client software management, Desktop Security, Antivirus, Patches, Linux Basics, IT devices trouble shooting, Asset and inventory management, Generic office productivity software, and Managing backup operation on tape based backup devices with Veritas Backup Exec and Bacula.
