Casual Production Assistant – Jewellery Making

Wintersheart is a small creative business based in Upper Kedron, Brisbane, specialising in whimsical, handcrafted acrylic jewellery. We are looking for a careful, creative and reliable Production Assistant to join our friendly little team for the busy lead-up to Christmas.

About the role

You will assist with the production of acrylic jewellery and other items sold by Wintersheart. This is a hands-on role involving various stages of production, from preparing and cutting components through to assembling, finishing and packaging completed pieces.

From time to time, you may also help photograph our jewellery and create fun content for social media. A genuine love of fashion, accessories, styling, photography and creative content is important for this role.

Key responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Assisting with the production of acrylic jewellery and other Wintersheart products

- Preparing materials and components for production

- Assisting with cutting and printing acrylic components

- Carefully assembling layered acrylic jewellery pieces

- Painting and adding hand-finished details where required

- Gluing components neatly and accurately

- Attaching brooch backs, earring findings and other jewellery fittings

- Cleaning and polishing completed pieces

- Checking items for quality, strength and correct assembly

- Preparing packaging and packing completed products

- Preparing jewellery for customer and wholesale orders

- Following design samples and production instructions consistently

- Keeping the workspace clean, safe, tidy and organised

- Occasionally helping to style and photograph jewellery

- Assisting with social media photos, reels and creative content

- Undertaking other related production duties as required

- Patient, dependable and comfortable with detailed work

- Able to work carefully with small and delicate components

- Someone with a steady hand and an excellent eye for detail

- Happy completing repetitive tasks while maintaining a high standard

- Able to follow instructions and recreate designs consistently

- Organised, punctual and respectful of our materials and workspace

- Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team

- Genuinely interested in fashion, jewellery, accessories and personal style

- Someone who enjoys social media, photography and creating beautiful content

- Friendly, open-minded and respectful of others

Previous jewellery-making, crafting, painting, photography or production experience would be helpful, but it is not essential for the right person, as training will be provided.

Position details

- Casual seasonal position

- Based in Upper Kedron, Brisbane

- Starting as soon as possible and continuing until two weeks before Christmas

- Two days per week

- Eight hours per day, for a total of 16 hours per week

- Working days to be discussed

- Covered by the Manufacturing and Associated Industries and Occupations Award 2020 (MA000010), pay at the applicable award rate with casual loading and superannuation.
