Description: Histolab Pty Ltd is a specialist single-discipline histopathology laboratory, conveniently located in Kew East, Victoria. We provide a full suite of histopathology services to referring doctors in Melbourne metropolitan and regional Victorian locations. The range of specimens received include a major component of skin specimens from dermatologists (including inflammatory dermatoses), plastic surgeons (including complex cancer surgical resections), skin cancer clinics and general practices, with smaller numbers of endoscopic, urological, gynaecological and ENT specimens.
In addition to servicing its own referring doctors, Histolab has a contract with 4Cyte Pathology to provide histopathological services to doctors in their referral network.
There is an prospect for a motivated pathologist (or pathologists) to join our growing, dynamic and collegial pathologist-owned and managed independent practice. This could include full-time, part-time/sessional, casual or leave cover arrangements. Initially, the new pathologist would be responsible for reporting 4Cyte specimens.
Ideally the position would suit an experienced pathologist, with a capacity for efficient throughput (remuneration is case number and type-based). Recent graduates would also be considered, particularly if they are keen to rapid-track their “optical mileage” early in their career.

There would be a lucrative ability for a pathologist to build up their own mini-practice within Histolab by taking advantage of their own goodwill potential.
Workload and hours would be flexible to suit the lifestyle of the suitable candidate. Reporting would be performed on site at the laboratory. There is no requirement to perform specimen cut-up, after hours on call, attendance at MDMs or remote frozen section attendance. We are not yet set up for digital reporting.
The successful applicant will be medically registered with APHRA, hold FRCPA (or equivalent) and has satisfied their CPDP requirements, have medical indemnity insurance and ideally have an ABN.
Please direct enquiries to the Managing Director, Dr Andrew Ryan at
