Perth College is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified English teacher with recognised English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) qualifications to join our English and Learning Engagement Departments. This is an exciting opportunity to teach English across the Senior School while delivering specialised EAL/D instruction at Year 11 and 12 level to support students to develop their English language proficiency and access the curriculum with confidence.

This is a temporary part-time position (0.61 FTE) for the remainder Semester 2, 2026, within a collaborative and supportive school community. As Perth College operates on a five-day timetable, the successful applicant will be required to work across all five days. There is a possibility that this role will continue into 2027.

Reporting to the Head of English and the Head of Learning Engagement, the role includes teaching a combined Year 11 and 12 ATAR EAL/D class, delivering specialised literacy intervention programs, and implementing evidence-based, differentiated teaching strategies to support students with diverse linguistic, cultural and learning needs. In addition, the successful applicant will teach Lower School English classes and contribute to the planning, delivery and assessment of the Years 7–10 English curriculum.

The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in both English and EAL/D pedagogy, with a strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices across the Senior School. Experience in monitoring student progress, reporting against the EAL/D Progress Maps, and working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure equitable access to learning will be highly regarded.

You have the ability to deliver high-quality EAL/D instruction while teaching a lower school English class, enabling students to develop their English language proficiency, build confidence, and achieve success across the curriculum.

You bring excellent classroom management and communication skills, a student-centred approach to teaching and learning, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and families. As a collaborative and proactive educator, you are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and contributing positively to a dynamic and supportive school community.

Qualifications and Experience

- A Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Arts (English) with a Postgraduate Diploma of Education, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience in EAL/D, TESOL or Intensive Language programs.
- Current registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- National Police Clearance within 6 months.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to share expertise, resources and best practice.
