As our Learning and Capability Lead, you'll lead a high-performing Capability team within the People and Culture Division and play a key role in building workforce capability across Wollongong City Council. Working closely with leaders across the organisation, you'll influence strategic decisions, develop leadership and workforce capability programs, and create learning experiences that enable our people to thrive.

This role combines strategic thinking with hands-on leadership. You'll partner with Senior Leaders, managers and employees to identify organisational capability needs, design practical solutions, evaluate outcomes and ensure capability investments deliver meaningful organisational results.

You'll lead a small team of experienced capability professionals, support a diverse range of stakeholders across Council and help deliver initiatives that directly contribute to creating an extraordinary Wollongong.

This is a Permanent full-time position.

Salary from $112,228 up to $130,245 per annum plus superannuation (salary package will be assessed based on skills, experience and qualifications).

Leading and developing a high-performing Capability team.

Using data and insights to evaluate programs, inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.

Managing capability investments to maximise value and organisational outcomes.

Driving learning, leadership and career development opportunities that help our people thrive.

About you You are an experienced capability, learning and development, or organisational development professional who enjoys helping people and organisations perform at their best.

You bring experience leading teams and delivering capability, leadership or workforce development initiatives within a corporate, government or similarly complex environment. You combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and build trusted relationships that influence positive outcomes.

You will bring

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Learning and Development, Organisational Development, Psychology, Education or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant experience.

Experience leading and developing high-performing teams.

Strong stakeholder engagement, influencing and consulting skills.

Expertise in leadership development, organisational capability and adult learning principles.

The ability to analyse data, identify capability needs and translate them into practical solutions.

Experience evaluating learning programs and measuring organisational impact.

Experience managing budgets, priorities and competing business needs.

Experience working with Learning Management Systems and learning technologies.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or willingness to obtain.
