About The Role Shadbolt Group is seeking experienced FIFO Mechanical Fitters to join our team on a casual basis supporting a major Defence project in South Australia. This is an excellent opportunity for trade-qualified fitters looking for ongoing project work with strong conditions, stability, and potential for extension (minimum 3 months, up to 12 months). This is a Casual position.
About The Role You will be working as part of a skilled mechanical maintenance team on a Defence-aligned site, undertaking installation, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical systems and equipment. The role requires a robust commitment to safety, precision, and compliance with Defence and site-specific procedures. What's On Offer Duration: Ongoing minimum 3 months, up to 12 months
Roster: 8.44 hours a day expected, Monday-Friday, with opportunity for overtime on weekdays and weekends.
Pay: $47.03 - $61.14 per hour (EA rates, dependent on skills & experience) + superannuation
Client Site Allowance: $40 per day flat
Flights: Home every 4 weeks for the weekend
Living Away From Home Allowance: $89 per day (capped at $341 per week)
Accommodation: Fully supplied
Transport: Provided to/from site
Travel Time: Paid at ordinary time (4 hours each way) Skills & Capabilities Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent)
Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident (essential due to Defence requirements)
Ability to obtain and maintain a clear National Police Check (mandatory)
Must be able to pass a full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
Strong experience in mechanical maintenance, installation, assembly, and overhaul of industrial or Defence-related equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical systems
Experience with pumps, valves, compressors, gearboxes, piping systems, and rotating equipment
Competent in precision fitting, alignment, and mechanical assembly to tight tolerances
Strong understanding of Defence, regulated site safety systems, and WHS compliance requirements
Ability to work within strict procedural and controlled environments
Experience in shutdowns, project work, or maintenance campaigns highly regarded
Strong teamwork, communication, and ability to follow site protocols
Physically fit and capable of working in demanding industrial environments
