Lead a Critical Mechanical Operation
ABBA Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Fleet Manager to lead our Goldfields Mechanical Division and take ownership of the performance, reliability, and presentation of a diverse fleet supporting mining and construction operations across the Goldfields.
This is a senior leadership role where you'll lead a team of Supervisors, Leading Hands, Mechanics, and Service Technicians while driving workshop performance, fleet reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Reporting directly to the General Manager and Goldfields Area Manager, you'll have the autonomy to make decisions, implement improvements, develop your team, and play a key role in the continued growth of our Goldfields operations.

The Role
As Mechanical & Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the Goldfields mechanical operation, ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standard while leading a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Your responsibilities will include
Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop Supervisors, Leading Hands, Mechanics, and Service Technicians
- Build a high-performing, accountable team culture
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing staff development
- Drive daily safety, productivity, and performance outcomes
Fleet & Workshop Management
- Oversee the maintenance and presentation of all Goldfields assets, including mobile plant, light vehicles, pumps, generators, fuel systems, and workshop equipment
- Ensure preventative maintenance programs are completed on schedule
- Maximise fleet availability while minimising downtime
- Manage workshop workflow, scheduling, and resource allocation
- Conduct regular fleet inspections and implement corrective actions through SafetyCulture
- Ensure every asset leaves the workshop meeting ABBA Group's operational standards
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain Test & Tag compliance across Goldfields facilities
- Ensure workshop documentation remains audit-ready
- Provide weekly reporting on fleet performance, workshop output, maintenance activities, and team performance
- Maintain accurate records within SafetyCulture, Simpro, or equivalent systems
About You You're an experienced mechanical leader who thrives in demanding operational environments where safety, reliability, and performance are non-negotiable.
You lead by example, build strong teams, and take ownership of outcomes while continuously looking for ways to improve people, processes, and performance.
Essential
- Significant experience within mining, construction, or heavy industry
- Demonstrated success leading mechanical maintenance or workshop teams
- Strong knowledge of mobile plant, fleet maintenance, and workshop operations
- Experience managing preventative maintenance programs and improving asset reliability
- Working knowledge of Test & Tag compliance and safety management systems
- Experience using SafetyCulture, Simpro, or similar maintenance systems
Highly Regarded
- Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel, Fitting & Machining, or a related mechanical discipline
- Strong operational planning and organisational skills
- Proven ability to lead high-output workshop environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong technical judgement and problem-solving capability
