We are seeking an experienced, analytical, and hands-on leader to manage the Retail Operations function at SWOP for a fixed term (6 month) engagement, while the permanent staff member is on leave. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50/50 time split between working from home and in-store, and can be based in Sydney or Melbourne (preferred), or Brisbane. Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll work cross-functionally with SWOP’s finance, HR, and software development partners, as well as our retail leadership and in-store teams, to ensure SWOP’s operations are reflecting the highest quality standards.

A strategic leader within the business, you’ll own cross-cutting initiatives across inventory management, analytics and reporting, stock control and loss prevention, eCommerce fulfilment optimisation, customer service, and other strategic inputs that drive effective business decision-making. A mastery of retail KPIs - and the levers to achieve these - will be a key driver of success in the role, along with a demonstrated ability to exceed profitability objectives while also delivering an excellent experience for customers and employees. Key Responsibilities

Drive Business Growth and Margin Expansion





Collaborate with SWOP’s Growth Manager and other key functional leaders to influence SWOP’s growth strategy and business priorities for the entire store network (currently 4 SWOP locations and one non-profit social enterprise, PRISE Op Shop).

Conceptualise and implement future retail activities and processes, aligning operational strategies with company sales objectives.

Partner with the General Manager to develop and roll out operational policies, store procedures and process improvements that scale across a growing multi-site network.

Champion

Analytics and Data-Driven Decision Making

Utilise tech tools and AI to improve the speed and accuracy of SWOP’s operational processes and data analytics, deriving actionable insights that improve the customer and employee experience.

Deep dive into SWOP’s point-of-sale/inventory platforms (Lightspeed and Shopify, as well as our proprietary web-based selling app) and workplace tools (Asana, Zapier, Claude) to identify opportunities to streamline workflows.

Own Stock

Control and Loss Prevention Practices

Manage end-to-end stock management processes across all stores, including intake, cycle counts, shrinkage tracking and reconciliation between in-store and app-based inventory.

Conduct ongoing reporting and analysis on SWOP’s inventory trends and sales patterns, equipping SWOP’s buying teams with valuable insights that inform their purchasing decisions.

Optimise Store

Operations to Support the Customer and Employee Experience

Oversee back of house Store Operations, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures relating to security, health, and safety.

Responsibility for ensuring that new stores which open during your term operate from launch with strong teams, consistency, and commercial strength. Modelling store supplies needs and timely replenishment requirements to ensure store presentation is optimised.





About

You The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with a “continuous improvement” mindset, constantly seeking opportunities to make processes more effective. Other attributes include:

7+ years in fashion retail operations, with at least 4+ years in a multi-site leadership role.

Strong analytical skills; comfortable building reports and translating data into operational decisions.

Demonstrated experience in stock control, inventory management and loss prevention.

Solid working knowledge of OHS compliance requirements across Australian states (VIC, NSW, QLD).

A track record of developing and rolling out operational processes across multiple locations.

Excellent stakeholder management skills: able to influence and support store managers and frontline teams.

Experience in luxury fashion, retail, and fast-paced multi-site consumer businesses highly regarded.

Willingness and ability to travel regularly between Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The Benefits we offer at SWOP
