Disability Support Worker - Clarkson & Quinns Rocks

We are currently seeking a reliable and respectful Disability Support Worker to support participants living in the Clarkson and Quinns Rocks area.
This is an active role supporting people with autism, intellectual disability and psychosocial disability to manage everyday activities, participate in their community and work towards their individual goals.
About the role
Depending on the participant's support plan and goals, shifts may involve domestic assistance, meal preparation, shopping, appointments, community outings and recreational activities . Activities may include visiting the beach, attending dance sessions, going to the gym and supporting healthy everyday routines .
A key part of the role is encouraging participants to build and use their own skills. You should be comfortable working alongside a participant, providing the level of assistance they need without unnecessarily taking over tasks they can complete themselves.
The role requires consistency, sound judgement and the ability to follow individual support plans, risk controls and agreed routines.
Key responsibilities
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting participant choice, independence, dignity and personal goals
- Building professional and respectful relationships with participants
- Providing domestic assistance to help maintain a safe and comfortable home
- Supporting participants to plan and prepare meals
- Assisting with shopping, errands and other everyday activities
- Providing transport or support to attend appointments, where authorised
- Accompanying participants to beach outings, dance activities and gym sessions
- Encouraging participation and confidence
- Following individual support plans
- Observing and responding appropriately to changes in a participant's needs or circumstances
- Maintaining professional boundaries and protecting participant privacy
- Completing accurate, objective and timely progress notes
- Recording and escalating incidents, hazards and concerns in accordance with organisational procedures
- Communicating professionally with participants, families, coordinators and relevant team members
- Following organisational policies, safe‑work procedures and lawful directions

Mandatory requirements
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Current First Aid certification
- Current CPR certification
- Valid Australian driver's licence
- Access to a reliable and appropriately insured vehicle
- Australian work rights appropriate to the employment arrangement
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Ability to meet the inherent requirements of the role , with reasonable adjustments where applicable

Desirable experience
- Experience supporting people with autism
- Experience supporting people with intellectual disability
- Experience supporting people with psychosocial disability or mental health‑related support needs
- Experience supporting appointments, shopping, meal preparation and domestic routines
- Knowledge of strengths‑based and person‑centred practice
- Experience producing clear progress notes and incident documentation
- A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or another relevant qualification
