Positions

Two full‑time continuing positions available to strengthen culturally safe teaching, learning, research, and engagement across the School and support the success of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, communities, and health outcomes.

Base salary: $137,500 (plus 17% superannuation). Position designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only under section 126 of the Anti‑Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW). Verification of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander status is required. Applications close Sunday 9 August 2026.

About the opportunity

Both roles are Level B Lecturer (Education) academics. Each has a distinct focus area and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within the health professions and broader community.

Physiotherapist Lecturer (Education)

Role for an experienced physiotherapist and educator passionate about developing future health professionals through evidence‑based and culturally responsive teaching.

- Deliver teaching and clinical education across Physiotherapy programs.
- Supervise students in clinical and simulated learning environments.
- Develop innovative learning experiences that promote cultural safety, clinical reasoning, communication, and evidence‑based practice.
- Contribute to curriculum development, continuous improvement, and accreditation reporting.
- Provide student mentoring, assessment, and feedback.
- Participate in healthcare education scholarship, research, and quality improvement activities.
- Collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance teaching outcomes.
- Foster an inclusive and culturally respectful learning environment.

Qualifications – Physiotherapist Lecturer

- Current AHPRA registration as a physiotherapist.
- Significant clinical experience in acute care, rehabilitation, aged care,



or multidisciplinary healthcare.
- Expertise in physiotherapy assessment, rehabilitation, patient‑centred care, mobility, falls prevention, and discharge planning.
- Experience supervising and mentoring students or early‑career clinicians.
- Commitment to culturally safe and inclusive education and healthcare practices.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Evidence of educational innovation, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Educator (Education)

Role for an accomplished Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educator with expertise in Indigenous health, education, research, and community engagement.

- Lead the development and delivery of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander curriculum across the School and embed Indigenous knowledges throughout health professional education.
- Design, coordinate, and deliver undergraduate and postgraduate Indigenous health curriculum.
- Teach across disciplines through lectures, tutorials, workshops, and learning activities.
- Embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout programs.
- Build and maintain relationships with Aboriginal communities and Community Controlled Organisations.
- Recruit, mentor, and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander casual academics.
- Contribute to Indigenous‑led research and scholarship.




- Lead and contribute to research funding and grant applications.
- Represent the School through conferences, committees, and community engagement activities.

Qualifications – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Educator

- Experience designing, coordinating, and teaching university‑level undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Indigenous health.
- Expertise in teaching and research across Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, culture, history, community control, cultural responsiveness, and health service delivery.
- Experience teaching across multiple health disciplines.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, including awards or formal recognition.
- Active involvement in Indigenous health and education research.
- Experience presenting at conferences and securing grant funding.
- Undergraduate qualification in Education, Health, or a related discipline.
- PhD completed or significant progress towards completion.
- Strong experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Community Controlled Organisations.
