Operations Manager – Solar, Battery, Hot Water & Air Conditioning Company: Sunrise Saves Energy Pty Ltd

Location: Thomastown, VIC

Employment Type: Full-time

Government-supported energy-saving programs, including the Victorian Energy Upgrades program and NSW Energy Savings Scheme We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day delivery of our projects. This is a senior, hands-on position responsible for coordinating customers, installation teams, subcontractors, suppliers, compliance requirements and internal staff from approved sale through to successful project completion.

About the Role

As the Renewable Energy Operations Manager, you will oversee the complete operational lifecycle of solar, battery, heat-pump hot-water and air-conditioning installations.

You will ensure projects are properly reviewed, scheduled, supplied, installed, documented and closed out. You will also be responsible for maintaining installation quality, contractor performance, customer satisfaction, workplace safety and compliance with applicable program and regulatory requirements.

This role requires someone who can confidently manage a busy pipeline, solve problems quickly and introduce systems that improve operational efficiency as the company grows. Key Responsibilities

Project and Installation Management

Manage projects from approved sale and eligibility assessment through to installation, compliance submission and final handover.

Coordinate solar, battery, heat-pump hot-water and air-conditioning installations across residential and commercial properties.

Review each job before scheduling to confirm site requirements, product selection, approvals, installer capability, stock availability and documentation.

Prepare and manage daily and weekly installation schedules.

Coordinate electricians, plumbers, refrigeration and air-conditioning technicians, inspectors, subcontractors and other service providers.

Monitor project progress and proactively address delays, incomplete work, technical problems and customer concerns.

Ensure installation teams receive accurate scopes of work, site information, product details and customer requirements.

Manage installation variations, additional-work approvals and return visits.

Ensure completed jobs are invoiced, documented and operationally closed without unnecessary delay.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure installations comply with relevant Australian Standards, manufacturer instructions, network requirements, safety requirements and company procedures.

Oversee documentation associated with VEU, Solar Victoria, STCs, certificates, rebates and other applicable energy-efficiency schemes.

Review installation photographs, serial numbers, commissioning information, electrical and plumbing certificates, customer forms and handover documents.

Ensure documentation is complete, accurate and submitted within required timeframes.

Coordinate solar and battery grid-connection applications, distributor approvals, inspections, meter upgrades and commissioning requirements where applicable.





Work with Accredited Providers, retailers, distributors, inspectors and regulatory bodies when required.

Maintain accurate records and evidence in preparation for audits or compliance reviews.

Identify recurring compliance or quality issues and implement corrective actions.

Ensure products and installation configurations match approved quotations, program requirements and manufacturer specifications. Contractor and Team Management

Recruit, onboard and coordinate appropriately licensed and accredited installers and subcontractors.

Verify licences, accreditations, insurance, White Cards and other required contractor documentation.

Monitor contractor availability, workmanship, reliability, customer service and documentation quality.

Set explicit performance expectations and address underperformance promptly and professionally.

Support internal administration, compliance, sales and customer-service teams.

Conduct regular operational meetings and provide clear priorities to the team.

Help develop installer procedures, training materials, checklists and quality-control processes.

Customer Management

Maintain a high standard of communication throughout the customer journey.

Ensure customers receive accurate information about installation dates, site requirements, expected works, system operation and next steps.

Manage escalated customer complaints, technical concerns and installation delays.

Coordinate warranty claims, service requests, rectification work and manufacturer support.

Ensure customer issues are recorded, assigned and resolved within appropriate timeframes.

Protect the company’s reputation by handling difficult situations fairly, calmly and professionally.

Procurement and Logistics

Coordinate product ordering, stock allocation, delivery and installation materials.

Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding pricing, availability, warranties and technical support.

Monitor stock levels and forecast upcoming equipment requirements.

Ensure the correct equipment is delivered to each project.

Reduce delays, unnecessary return visits, stock losses and avoidable project costs.

Safety and Risk Management

Promote a strong safety culture across employees and subcontractors.

Ensure appropriate SWMS, risk assessments, site-safety checks and incident-reporting procedures are followed.

Monitor WHS compliance across installation activities.

Escalate serious safety, technical, regulatory or customer risks to senior management.

Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.

Systems, Reporting and Process Improvement

Maintain accurate project information in the company’s CRM, job-management and compliance systems.

Track operational performance, including installation volume, outstanding documentation, delays, defects, return visits, complaints and project completion times.

Provide regular reports and operational updates to senior management.

Establish clear workflows, responsibilities and escalation procedures.

Identify bottlenecks and implement practical process improvements.





Develop scalable systems that support the company’s expansion into new products and regions.

Assist management with capacity planning, budgeting, contractor rates and operational strategy.

Essential Skills and Experience

Demonstrated experience in an operations, project-management or installation-management role within renewable energy, electrical contracting, HVAC, plumbing or energy-efficiency services.

Practical understanding of at least two of the following areas: solar PV, battery storage, heat-pump hot water, air-conditioning or electrical installations.

Experience coordinating multiple installation teams, subcontractors and projects simultaneously.

Strong understanding of installation scheduling, site readiness, documentation and project close-out.

Demonstrated ability to manage escalated customer and contractor issues.

Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Excellent attention to detail, particularly when reviewing compliance documentation.

Ability to prioritise urgent issues while maintaining oversight of the broader project pipeline.

Competence using CRM, job-management, scheduling and cloud-based administration systems.

Current Victorian driver’s licence.

Full Australian working rights.

Highly Regarded

Experience with VEU, Solar Victoria, STCs, CER requirements, NSW ESS or similar government-supported programs.

Knowledge of electricity-distributor applications, export approvals, metering and grid-connection processes.

Experience with solar and battery commissioning, hybrid inverters and system-monitoring platforms.

Electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, construction or renewable-energy qualifications.

Victorian electrical or plumbing licence.

Refrigerant Handling Licence or experience managing ARC-licensed technicians.

Solar PV or battery accreditation recognised in Australia.

Construction Industry White Card.

WHS, project-management or First Aid qualifications.

Existing relationships with reliable electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians or solar installers.
