Senior Grounds Officer (Neighbourhood Living)

Kalyra is a trusted, values‑driven organisation dedicated to supporting older Australians. We seek an experienced Senior Grounds Officer to maintain gardens, grounds and facilities across our Neighbourhood Living communities.

About the Role

This permanent full‑time position is based at Kalyra Neighbourhood Living’s Belair office, working across our sites. The role involves gardening, grounds maintenance, corrective and preventative building maintenance, operating machinery safely, managing plants and chemicals, planning within budgets and ensuring safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver gardening and grounds services across multiple locations.
- Maintain gardens, lawns and outdoor areas to a high standard.
- Undertake routine, preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Safely operate gardening machinery, equipment and maintenance tools.
- Manage plants, pests and chemicals in accordance with relevant requirements.
- Plan and prioritise work within established budgets and timeframes.
- Identify maintenance issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Complete required reports and administrative tasks.
- Promote safe work practices and report unsafe activity.
- Provide practical direction to staff involved in grounds and maintenance activities.
- Participate in Kalyra’s out‑of‑hours Maintenance Service.

Experience,



Skills & Knowledge

- Experience providing gardening and grounds services, preferably across multiple locations.
- Sound knowledge of plants, pest management and chemical handling.
- Ability to safely operate gardening machinery and maintenance equipment.
- Practical problem‑solving approach and independence.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Respectful communication with older people.
- Positive organisational skills, flexibility and ability to meet agreed timeframes.
- Understanding of continuous improvement practices.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Knowledge of work health and safety legislation and its practical application.

Qualifications

- Current National Police Certificate, or willingness to complete screening.
- A Certificate II or III in Horticulture is desirable.
