Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant – Full time position
Port Macquarie Eye Centre is looking for motivated Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant to join our team.
- Our 8 ophthalmologists look after the ocular health of patients throughout the Mid North Coast and are assisted by our highly skilled clinical team.
- Our practice encompasses the full range of ophthalmology including retina, paediatrics, cataract, glaucoma, diabetes and oculoplastics.
Your new role
- We are looking for a friendly and professional Ophthalmic Clinical Assistantreporting directly to the Clinical Team Manager.
- You will be working in a busy clinic taking history, assessing vision, conducting scans or tests to assess pressures, pachymetry, OCT, field testing, corneal topography.

Key responsibility
- Greeting patients,
delivering a high level of service to our patients.
- Collecting patient history, accurately entering details into medical computer software
- Perform ancillary tests and scans for doctors
- Measuring the patients glasses strength and baseline vision measurements required by doctors.
- Maintain patient flow by distributing patients to appropriate waiting room or consult room. Our clinic sees up to 150 patients per day.
- Assist all doctors, orthoptists and other staff with admin tasks, clinic flow, cleaning & restocking rooms.
- Raising software and equipment queries to ensure smooth clinic function.
Experience and Attributes
- Exceptional customer service skills with previous experience in optometry or ophthalmic practices highly regarded
- Excellent communication skills including a professional and friendly manner
- Attention to detail
- Computer skills and a knowledge of medical software
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise urgency of tasks
- Ability to work as team and independently
- Neat and professional presentation
