About Birch & Waite

At Birch & Waite, we create chef-quality mayonnaise, dressings, sauces and desserts that help Australians make everyday meals extraordinary.

We're proud of our heritage, but we're even more excited about what's ahead. As we continue to grow, we're expanding our product portfolio, investing in innovation and bringing more exciting products to market than ever before.

About the role

We're looking for a Packaging Specialist who is passionate about packaging innovation and enjoys seeing ideas come to life.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity where you'll work across Innovation, Operations, Procurement, Quality and Production to develop smarter packaging solutions that support new product launches, improve manufacturing performance and drive our sustainability ambitions.

This isn't a role that's confined to a desk. You'll spend plenty of time on the factory floor running line trials, observing packaging performance, troubleshooting issues and working alongside operators to find practical solutions. At the same time, you'll bring creativity and curiosity to explore new materials, improve existing packaging and help deliver exciting current products to market.

What you'll be doing

- Lead packaging projects from concept through to commercial implementation.

- Plan, coordinate and evaluate packaging line trials.

- Spend time on the factory floor identifying opportunities to improve packaging performance and manufacturing efficiency.

- Troubleshoot packaging and process issues with Production, Operations and Quality teams.

- Explore innovative packaging materials and technologies that improve product quality, sustainability and operational efficiency.

- Partner with suppliers to evaluate new packaging solutions and ensure packaging compliance.

- Support packaging-related capital projects and equipment improvements.

- Maintain packaging specifications and technical documentation.

- Contribute to APCO, ARL and other sustainability initiatives.

About you

You're equally comfortable developing ideas at your desk and testing them on the factory floor.

You'll also bring

- A qualification in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Engineering or a related discipline.

- Experience in packaging development, ideally with flexible packaging.

- A practical understanding of packaging materials and manufacturing processes.

- Strong problem-solving and continuous improvement skills.

- The ability to collaborate and build relationships across multiple teams.

- A passion for innovation and sustainable packaging.

Bonus points if you have...

- Food manufacturing experience.

- Experience with APCO, ARL or sustainable packaging initiatives.

- Experience leading packaging line trials.

- Exposure to packaging-related capital projects.

Why join Birch & Waite?

- Work on an exciting pipeline of new products.

- Influence packaging innovation from concept to commercialisation.

- Be hands-on in the factory and make a genuine impact.

- Join a collaborative and growing business where your ideas matter.

Values-led organisation: Together | Committed | Creative | Authentic

Whether you're an experienced Packaging Specialist or looking for your next opportunity to make a bigger impact, we'd love to hear from you. Join us as we continue to create extraordinary food experiences for Australians every day.
