Casual Position with the Potential to Transition to Permanent Part-Time

Aila Rose Melasecca Barristers & Solicitors is a boutique law firm practising primarily in family law. We are seeking a professional, motivated and reliable Casual Paralegal to support our growing practice.

This position is well-suited to a law student, recent graduate, or experienced paralegal looking to gain meaningful experience in family law and litigation. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Solicitor and Junior Solicitor and will have the opportunity to take on substantial responsibilities from an early stage.

For the right candidate, there is potential for the role to transition into a permanent part-time position as the firm continues to grow.

About the Role The role will involve assisting with a broad range of family law matters, including parenting disputes, property settlements, intervention order proceedings, divorce applications, and related litigation.

Responsibilities will include

- Drafting legal correspondence and court documents;
- Preparing briefs to counsel;
- Assisting with court filing and service requirements;
- Reviewing, organising and summarising evidence;
- Preparing chronologies and case summaries;
- Conducting legal research;
- Liaising with clients, courts, barristers and other professionals;
- Managing electronic and physical files; and
- Providing general administrative support to the practice.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Is highly organised and detail-oriented;
- Can manage competing priorities and deadlines;
- Demonstrates professionalism, discretion and empathy;
- Has strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office;




- Is capable of working independently while also contributing to a small team environment; and
- Has a genuine interest in family law.

Essential Requirements

- Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor, or prior paralegal and or legal administration experience;
- Solid attention to detail;
- Professional presentation and communication skills.

Desirable
- Previous family law experience;
- Experience using Smokeball or similar practice management software;
- Previous work within a legal practice.
