About the role

Next Level Personnel is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Parts Interpreter to join our client's team on a full-time basis in Sunbury, VIC 3429. This is a critical position within our automotive operations, responsible for accurately identifying, locating and interpreting vehicle parts information to support our customers, technicians and business operations. As a Parts Interpreter, you will be the bridge between customers, technical teams and parts systems, ensuring that the right components are identified and supplied efficiently and accurately.

Your expertise in parts catalogues, component identification and automotive knowledge will be essential to maintaining our service standards and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

1. Interpret and identify vehicle parts accurately using parts catalogues, technical drawings and electronic parts systems
2. Process customer enquiries for specific components and provide detailed information regarding part numbers, specifications and availability
3. Cross-reference vehicle identification numbers (VIN) with parts catalogues to ensure correct component matching
4. Liaise with technicians, workshop staff and customers to clarify part requirements and resolve any discrepancies
5. Maintain accurate records of parts requests, quotations and orders using computer systems and databases
6. Verify part compatibility with various vehicle models and advise on suitable alternatives when required
7. Support the procurement process by communicating parts requirements to suppliers and monitoring stock levels

Provide technical guidance and support to customers regarding part specifications and installation considerations

What we're looking for

1. Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Coordinator or similar role within the automotive industry
2. Strong knowledge of vehicle components, part classification systems and automotive terminology
3. Proficiency with parts management software, electronic catalogues (such as Microfiche or digital systems) and computer systems
4. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when interpreting technical specifications and part numbers
5. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with diverse stakeholders
6. Ability to work methodically under pressure and manage multiple enquiries simultaneously
7. Customer service focus with the ability to provide clear, professional guidance
8. Familiarity with VIN decoding and vehicle identification processes
9. Organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
10. A valid driver's licence and reliable transport to travel to Sunbury
11. Preferred: Previous experience in a fast-paced automotive dealership, workshop or parts distribution centre
