The Opportunity:

- Full-Time | Ongoing contract of employment.
- PW5 $79,270 - $85,278 per annum pro rata + 12% super + leave loading (dependent on qualifications and experience).
- Across multiple Campuses – onsite parking with close proximity to public transport.

The Social Inclusion and Vocational College supports young people who face barriers to mainstream education through flexible, inclusive and student-centred programs. Combining tailored education, vocational training and wellbeing support, the department helps students rebuild confidence, develop practical and employability skills, gain meaningful qualifications and progress into further study, training or employment. The Pathways Guidance and Placement Officer helps students with intellectual disabilities and those who have disengaged from mainstream schooling build meaningful futures through education, training and employment. Working closely with students, teachers and Education Managers, the role provides tailored career guidance, identifies suitable pathways and develops opportunities that reflect each student’s strengths, goals and aspirations.

You will build strong partnerships across Holmesglen, industry, employers, training providers, government services and community organisations to create opportunities including work placements, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, further study and employment.

As a Pathways Guidance and Placement Officer, you will:

- Develop and implement strategies to assist students in identifying, documenting and accessing appropriate educational, vocational and employment pathways, with a particular emphasis on pathways available within Holmesglen.
- Collaborate with Holmesglen departments, employers,



industry and community organisations to establish and maintain student access to pathway and placement opportunities, including negotiating placements, coordinating resources and promoting opportunities that support positive student outcomes.
- Liaise with businesses, industry and relevant external stakeholders to identify, develop and coordinate school-based apprenticeships and traineeships for students, applying judgement and specialist knowledge to support appropriate opportunities and address issues as they arise.
- Monitor, maintain and analyse student pathway and placement information and prepare end-of-term and other relevant reports for teachers, students and families. Maintain accurate records and data to support internal governance, service improvement and external government reporting requirements.
- Apply specialist expertise to provide career guidance and pathway advice to students regarding further study, training and employment options, with a particular focus on opportunities within Holmesglen. Liaise with government employment services, education and training providers and community services to identify and develop appropriate referral pathways for students.

To be successful, you’ll have:

- Relevant degree with relevant experience, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience and specialist expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant qualifications and experience in areas such as social work, youth work, psychology, education, careers counselling or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in providing career guidance, pathways counselling and/or employment support, including developing and implementing strategies that support students to transition into further education, training or employment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating student work placements and employment pathway opportunities, including employer and industry liaison, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships,



and supporting students through relevant application and interview processes.
- Demonstrated ability to apply specialist knowledge, judgement and problem-solving skills to provide individualised pathway advice and support to students with diverse and complex needs, including students with intellectual disabilities and/or histories of school disengagement.
- Current full Victorian Driver’s License.

WWCC and Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Victorian ‘employee’ Working with Children Check, and a valid Police Check within the last 12 months.
