Payroll Officer

- $84,066 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Full time, fixed term opportunity until March 2027
- Wadawurrung / Geelong based role (hybrid – 3 days a week in office)

About the prospect The Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of the fortnightly payrolls for WorkSafe Victoria and the Workplace injury Commission (WIC), applying a strong understanding of payroll legislation, enterprise agreement and internal policies. The Payroll Officer provides advice and front line support for payroll queries and provides a high level of customer service to clients. The Payroll Officer works with discretion and fosters relationships with internal stakeholders to achieve consistent, high quality service delivery.

Key accountabilities

- Deliver accurate and timely payroll services by managing end-to-end payroll activities to ensure targets, timetables and customer service expectations are achieved.
- Completing tax and super for new hires, updating employment details when required including processing of basic terminations. Processing Workers Compensation claims in compliance with legislation. Reviewing workflows as the final approver to ensure accuracy, making corrections where required prior to finialisation or training and upskilling users to ensure quality assurance of payroll processing.
- Discuss complex queries or matters outside standard operating practices and policies with the Senior Payroll Officer or Manager, Payroll Services.
- Handle sensitive data relating to employees personal and private information with the highest levels of discretion maintaining confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.




- Provide payroll advice and guidance to employees and managers by confidently and promptly responding to payroll queries including managing telephone, mailbox direction and triage, MS teams and in-person queries.

About you

You are a payroll professional who has a strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to your stakeholders. Known for your problem‑solving mindset, you apply analytical thinking to navigate complex issues and support continuous improvement. Your advanced organisational skills enable you to manage shifting priorities and varying workloads while consistently meeting deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.

- Experience using SAP Success Factors - People Central Payroll, highly desirable.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in processing a full range of payroll activities and in using an integrated Windows based HRIS Payroll system.
- Demonstrable experience and skill in processing a full range of payroll activities in a large organisation.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of current payroll legislation and compliance requirements relating to payroll.
- Well-developed communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate and liaise effectively with staff at all levels and external clients.
- Proficiency in the use of spreadsheets,



word processing and databases applications (preferably MS).
