We’re looking for an experienced doctor who understands the realities of primary care, sees how telehealth is reshaping healthcare, and wants to help design the clinical, operational and technical systems that support millions of Australians.

About the role

This is one of our most key medical leadership roles.

You’ll partner closely with our founders and senior leaders across:

Your work will shape how we practise safely, how we evolve our clinical model and how we continue setting the benchmark for responsible digital healthcare.

You won’t be sitting on the sidelines reviewing policies after the fact.

You’ll be in the room where:

- Product decisions are made
- Clinical risks are debated
- New models of care are built
- AI use cases are assessed
- Patient safety decisions are made

You’ll help translate clinical complexity into clear product, operational and engineering direction.

You’ll help us use AI thoughtfully and safely.

You’ll spot risks before they become incidents.

You’ll help design systems that make the right clinical decision easier, faster and more consistent.

This is a role for someone who can move between:

- A risk register
- A conversation with an engineer
- And make each one better.

What you’ll do

- Provide clinical leadership across the company and advise internal teams on complex or ambiguous clinical, product and operational questions.
- Work with product, engineering, legal, operations and partner doctors to design safe, scalable clinical systems.
- Help shape new products, clinical pathways and patient experiences from a medical safety perspective.
- Use AI and modern tools to improve clinical governance, quality assurance, policy development, risk detection and internal workflows.
- Review and improve clinical policies, patient safety protocols, escalation pathways and telehealth-specific risk frameworks.
- Identify patterns in patient journeys, doctor workflows,



support tickets and clinical incidents that can be improved through better systems.
- Take pre-emptive steps to avoid clinical, legal, operational or reputational risks.
- Support leadership with evidence-based recommendations on new products, clinical pathways, AI use cases and regulatory strategy.
- Help educate the broader team so our decisions reflect strong medical principles, not just commercial or technical logic.
- Act as a bridge between doctors and builders helping engineers and product teams understand clinical nuance, and helping clinicians understand what technology can make possible.

About you

You’re an experienced medical practitioner with strong grounding in one or more of:

- Primary care
- Another broad clinical environment

You may be a great fit if:

- You understand how clinical risk shows up in fast-moving settings and know how to manage it calmly and practically.
- You are not just interested in healthcare as it exists today. You are interested in how it should work next.
- You’re curious about product, technology, AI, automation and systems design.
- You may have taught yourself to code, built tools in no-code or low-code platforms, used AI deeply in your own work, written product specs, automated workflows, analysed data or hacked together better ways to get things done.
- You don’t need to be a professional engineer. But you should be comfortable thinking like a builder.
- You’re thoughtful, measured and able to give clear clinical guidance to non-medical teams.
- You’re comfortable with ambiguity and capable of applying sound clinical principles in new contexts.
- You care deeply about patient outcomes and the clinicians who deliver them.
- You communicate in a way that builds trust with doctors, lawyers, engineers, operators and founders.
- You’re excited about the future of telehealth and want to help shape it rather than react to it.

Bonus points if you have

- Held clinical, operational or product leadership roles before
- Contributed to clinical policy, governance or education
- Built internal tools, automations or workflows
- Worked on digital health products
- Used AI in a meaningful way
- Helped improve clinical systems at scale
- Worked closely with engineers, designers, product managers or operators
- Been the person in a clinical environment who makes broken systems better

- Review real examples of how product decisions, clinical judgment and operational workflows intersect at Updoc.
- By the end of the week, you’ll have a strong grip on our model, our risks, our systems and the projects you’ll influence next.
