We invite you to become a Volunteer Retail Assistant with the Salvation Army. This unpaid role will involve supporting store operations, assisting customers, processing donated goods, and helping raise funds for programs that assist those in need.

About You

What You’ll Be Doing

- Greet customers with a warm, friendly attitude to create a positive shopping experience.
- Assist with inquiries, providing transparent, helpful information and guidance to customers.
- Support the Donor Care Program by receiving donated goods and communicating with donors.
- Assess donated items for condition, functionality, and suitability according to production guidelines, and accurately price items for sale.
- Stock and display priced items on the sales floor,



ensuring a neat and organized presentation.
- Help with visual merchandising to enhance the store’s appearance.
- Maintain cleanliness of items, the sales floor, and staff areas to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
- Follow waste‑management guidelines in line with sustainable practices, handling waste appropriately.
- Ensure safety by consistently adhering to secure‑work practices and guidelines for customers, visitors, and staff.
- Be mindful of health and safety for yourself and others in the workplace.

Important Note – Volunteers must be 15 years of age and older. All child‑related volunteer roles require completion of a Working with Children Check. Certain volunteer roles may also require a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check.
