Job Title

Medical Registrar (PGY3+), Fixed‑Term, Full‑time

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a fixed‑term medical registrar (PGY3+) position at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) effective 3 August 2026 until 1 February 2027.

The RHH is the largest hospital in Tasmania with approximately 500 beds and offers services in all major medical and surgical specialties.

Responsibilities

- Day‑to‑day management of inpatients and outpatients within the hospital.
- During the 3‑month acute medical (day team) term and the 3‑month medical admitting term, including after‑hours responsibilities.
- Participation in the full spectrum of acute care from admission to discharge with the support of a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Act as a vital part of the medical emergency team (MET).

Qualifications & Requirements

- Registration to practice in Australia or Recent Zealand (or eligibility to apply).
- Completion of Basic Paramedic Training (BPT) – currency with ALS/ACLS (refresher every 3 years). Currency with BPT is required.
- Current valid driver’s licence (if applicable).




- Current Tasmanian Working with Children registration where applicable.
- Medical Practitioner Level 5‑11 (Registrar/Senior Registrar) under the Tasmanian State Service Award.

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full‑time day work, 76 hours per fortnight (+10 hours protected training time per fortnight, pro rata), commencing from 3 August 2026 until 1 February 2027.

Salary

$138,978 – $194,675 per annum (pro rata) plus 12% superannuation and salary packaging options.

Location

Medical Registrar – Department of General and Acute Care Medicine, Royal Hobart Hospital.
