StandBy – Support After Suicide is a statewide suicide post‑vention service that provides free, coordinated and evidence‑informed support to individuals, families and communities who are bereaved or impacted by suicide. Support is delivered face‑to‑face, by telephone or online, at a time and place that best meets the needs of everyone. Services include emotional support, information, practical assistance and connection to local services.

As the Program Coordinator, you will provide operational leadership and coordination to support the delivery of the StandBy programme across Western Australia. You will lead and support the StandBy workforce, maintain fidelity to the StandBy Model and Operations Manual, and ensure the provision of high‑quality, evidence‑informed and person‑centred suicide post‑vention services. Your day‑to‑day duties include operational oversight, workforce support, practice guidance, quality improvement activities, and collaboration with the Suicide Postvention Service Manager, StandBy National, community stakeholders and lived experience representatives.

Part‑time (0.9 FTE – 67.5 hrs per fortnight), max‑term (ending 30 June 2027). Flexible location – based anywhere in Western Australia; flexible working hours and working from home are supported.

About You

- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling (or an equivalent human services discipline), with eligibility for registration or membership with the relevant professional body.
- Substantial experience in the mental‑health, suicide prevention or post‑vention sector, with a strong understanding of the impacts of suicide bereavement on individuals, families and communities.
- Demonstrated leadership experience developing high‑performing teams, delivering training and support,



and effectively managing difficult conversations, employee relations matters and performance concerns.
- Knowledge and application of trauma‑informed, person‑centred and culturally responsive practice, including suicide risk assessment, safety planning and responding to complex presentations.
- Strong understanding of vulnerability, trauma, grief and bereavement issues affecting children, young people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other priority populations.
- Understanding of workforce wellbeing principles, including vicarious trauma and cumulative exposure in suicide post‑vention.
- Ability to achieve service outcomes, monitor performance and contribute to continuous quality improvement activities.
- Computer literacy, including experience with client management systems, databases and data reporting systems.
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, analyse information and communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.

Additional requirements: valid National Police Clearance, WA Working with Children Check and a WA Driver’s Licence.
