Nam hangang, located in Riverton, is seeking a passionate and experienced Korean Food Chef to join our culinary team. You will oversee the kitchen operations, ensure the highest quality of traditional and modern Korean cuisine, and lead a diverse team. Effective bilingual communication is essential for daily operations and team collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Kitchen Operations: Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, food preparation, and cooking in accordance with WA food safety standards.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation based on authentic and up-to-date Korean recipes.
- Inventory & Cost Control: Manage stock control, ordering, minimize food wastage, and optimize food cost efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, ensuring a safe and positive team environment.
- Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with WA OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) regulations and food hygiene laws.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of commercial cooking experience in Korean restaurants.
- Language Skills: Professional proficiency in both English and Korean (must be able to communicate effectively with multinational staff and suppliers).
- Certifications: Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent international qualification).
- Food Safety Supervisor: Approved Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certificate valid in Western Australia.
- Work Visa: Valid working rights in Australia.
- Flexibility: Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
Preferred Skills
- Experience as a Sous Chef or Head Chef in a high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong understanding of modern food trends integrated with Korean flavours.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
