About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Manager Finance & Business Improvement, you will play a key role in leading the enhancement and governance of our fixed asset register across an asset base of approximately $600 million, including land and infrastructure. As the subject matter expert for asset systems and registers during our 12-month Asset Lifecycle Management Project, you will lead the improvement of asset data quality and records in TechnologyOne, support its integration with ESRI, and develop an Asset Data Standards Manual and supporting training materials, ensuring asset data is accurate, complete and compliant. This role offers a unique opportunity to work autonomously, provide high-level advice, engage with stakeholders across all levels of the business, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems and processes. Please note this role involves physical asset verification, including site inspections at our port facilities.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in fixed asset accounting, including asset register management, capitalisation, depreciation, disposals,
and componentisation, within a complex infrastructure environment
- Working knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards relevant to property, plant and equipment (including AASB 116, AASB 138) and ATO effective life guidelines
- Working knowledge of Asset Management Industry Standards
- Experience with data cleanse, data migration, or asset register implementation projects within an ERP environment
- Ability to interrogate and extract information from multiple source systems (including legacy databases, document management systems, and spreadsheets) to reconcile and validate asset data
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and data accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups including engineers, asset managers, and finance professionals to achieve shared outcomes
- High level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly convey technical requirements to non-financial audiences
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes within a defined project timeframe
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
It will be highly regarded if you also have:
- Experience with TechnologyOne ERP (particularly the Asset Management and Finance modules) or ESRI GIS integration
- Membership of, or progress towards membership with,
CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand (CA ANZ)
- Previous experience in a Government Owned Corporation, utilities, ports, or infrastructure-focused organisation
Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification / Degree qualification in accounting, commerce, or a related discipline
