We are searching for a Senior Spatial Analyst to join a respected Government Department as a Senior Spatial Analyst, where your expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) will directly contribute to the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. This full-time contract opportunity has an initial 12 month duration with at least two extensions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and implement policies and procedures that ensure high quality spatial information is delivered using web GIS technologies to support departmental outcomes.
- Provide strategic advice on spatial information services, helping shape robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of stakeholders across the organisation.
- Manage operational aspects of the department's Geographical Information System (GIS), ensuring systems are reliable, productive, and responsive to user requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and support ArcGIS Experience Builder applications, web maps, dashboards, and related GIS solutions that facilitate effective decision-making.
- Design and implement Survey123 forms along with associated business workflows to streamline data collection processes and improve organisational efficiency.
- Create Python-based automation and integration processes that enhance the quality and efficiency of spatial data management as well as business operations.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, government agencies, and external providers to deliver tailored spatial solutions and services that address complex challenges.
- Engage actively within a team environment by contributing positively to culture, supporting colleagues, and fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect.
- Monitor emerging trends in GIS technology to ensure the department remains at the cutting edge of spatial analysis capabilities.
- Support the implementation of planned programmes of work within the Spatial Services unit by providing technical expertise and guidance.
The ideal Candidate
- Demonstrated experience with Esri ArcGIS Enterprise including administration, development, and support of enterprise GIS solutions is highly desirable for this role.
- Proven ability in developing ArcGIS Experience Builder applications as well as other web-based GIS platforms that enable effective visualisation and analysis of spatial data.
- Expertise in building and administering Survey123 forms alongside designing associated business workflows for streamlined data collection processes.
- Advanced proficiency in Python programming for automating spatial workflows and integrating GIS systems with broader business operations.
- Strong communication skills coupled with stakeholder engagement abilities that allow you to work effectively across both technical specialists and business users.
- Analytical thinking combined with problem-solving capabilities that enable you to identify opportunities for process improvement within spatial data management.
- Experience collaborating within multi-disciplinary teams where knowledge sharing is valued and interpersonal relationships are nurtured.
- A commitment to continuous learning demonstrated by keeping up-to-date with emerging trends in GIS technology or participating in relevant training programmes.
- Ability to provide strategic advice on spatial information services based on practical experience delivering robust solutions in complex environments.
