Our Client
Our client is an Australian success story that designs, develops and manufactures premium products sold throughout Australia and international markets. Their products have earned an outstanding reputation for quality, reliability and performance, and continued growth has created an opportunity for an experienced Product Development Engineer to join their expanding Engineering team.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, you'll play a key role in the development of new products while continually improving an established product range. Working across engineering, commercial, manufacturing and supplier networks, you'll be involved in every stage of the product lifecycle-from initial concept and product specification through to detailed design, prototyping, testing, compliance, manufacture and commercial release.
This role offers genuine variety, technical challenge and the opportunity to influence products that will be sold into both commercial and residential markets.
Responsibilities
As a key member of the Engineering team, you will:
- Participate in the research, design and development of innovative new products from concept through to commercialisation.
- Interpret market and customer requirements and develop practical engineering solutions that deliver outstanding functionality, aesthetics and commercial viability.
- Design components and assemblies using SolidWorks while producing detailed engineering drawings and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Develop prototypes and undertake hands-on testing to validate product performance, safety, reliability and functionality.
- Prepare test plans, coordinate testing with independent laboratories and ensure products achieve Australian and international compliance standards.
- Work closely with local and overseas suppliers and contract manufacturers throughout the product development and manufacturing process.
- Assess existing products and identify opportunities to improve quality, manufacturability, performance and cost.
- Redesign components where required to support continuous product improvement initiatives.
- Manage multiple product development projects, planning timelines and ensuring projects are delivered on specification, on time and within budget.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation while supporting quality systems, engineering processes and compliance requirements.
- Contribute ideas, solve complex engineering challenges and actively participate in creating innovative products for future markets.

Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- Degree qualifications in Mechatronic or Mechanical Engineering.
- Proven experience developing products from concept through to commercial launch.
- Advanced SolidWorks and CAD skills with experience designing mechanical components and assemblies.
- Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and mechatronic systems including product testing and validation.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles and working with local and offshore suppliers.
- Experience managing multiple engineering projects while balancing competing priorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with sound commercial judgement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, suppliers and commercial teams.
