Why should you apply? Our client is a well-established electrical contracting business delivering complex electrical, automation, instrumentation and infrastructure projects across Tasmania's mining, water, energy and heavy industrial sectors. With a reputation built on technical capability and long-standing client relationships, the business is entering a period of investment and growth, backed by a national parent group.
An chance now exists for an experienced Project Manager to join the team in Hobart and play a central role in that next phase.
About the role Reporting to the State Manager, you will take end-to-end ownership of multiple concurrent projects across live brownfield facilities, shutdowns and new capital works. This is a dual-mandate role: you will both deliver projects to a high technical and commercial standard and help win new work through tendering and estimating. Key priorities include:
- Managing the full project lifecycle - from tender and planning through construction, commissioning and handover - across electrical, automation and instrumentation scopes.
- Leading complex brownfield shutdowns and capital works while minimising disruption to live operational environments.
- Owning the commercial performance of your projects, including budgets, forecasting, variations and margin protection.
- Preparing and contributing to competitive tenders and estimates to secure new project work.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary site teams of supervisors, electricians and instrumentation technicians.
- Championing safety leadership and compliance across all site activities.
- Building strong working relationships with clients across the mining, water and heavy industrial sectors.
The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the following:
- At least 3-4 years in a project management role within the electrical or industrial contracting sector.
- A trade background (A-Grade Electrical / Electrical Mechanic Licence) is preferred, with demonstrated project management experience.
- Proven commercial capability - tendering, estimating and winning work, not delivery alone.
- Exposure to complex electrical, automation, instrumentation and infrastructure projects, ideally including brownfield or shutdown environments.
- Comfort operating across both capital project and maintenance/service delivery.
- The autonomy to run multiple projects independently, balanced with the judgement to escalate and seek input when needed.
- Current Construction White Card and Australian Driver's Licence.
