About the Role

Deliver professional training for Army personnel on military vehicles, focusing on safety and efficiency. Be part of a leading team in driver excellence.

Based at Robertson Barracks in Darwin, you'll join Wodonga TAFE's Defence Driver Training team, delivering engaging classroom and practical instruction to Army personnel operating Mercedes-Benz G Wagons, MAN 40M, HX77 vehicles and associated trailers. You'll also have opportunities to develop your capability across additional military vehicle platforms.

Working within an experienced and supportive team, you'll assess driver competency, coach learners to achieve Defence standards and help deliver nationally recognised driver training that emphasises safety, operational excellence and professionalism. As part of one of Australia's leading providers of Defence driver training, you'll contribute to programs that have a significant national and international impact.

Training and assessment are delivered in accordance with Defence requirements, the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and Wodonga TAFE's commitment to continuous improvement, quality and professional standards.

Selected Duties

- Deliver high-quality classroom and practical driver training to Defence personnel in accordance with approved Defence, Industry and Wodonga TAFE standards and frameworks.
- Conduct on-road and off-road driver assessments, providing constructive feedback and coaching to develop safe,



competent and confident drivers.
- Promote a strong safety culture by complying with WHS requirements, applying appropriate PPE, and actively contributing to risk management and incident prevention.
- Identify learner and program improvement opportunities, contributing to the ongoing development of training resources, delivery methods and assessment practices.
- Adapt training approaches to suit diverse learning needs while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism and operational effectiveness.
- Build positive relationships with learners, colleagues and Defence stakeholders through explicit communication, collaboration and professionalism.
- Maintain regulatory fitness to drive and ensure all training and assessment activities meet legislative and organisational compliance requirements.
- Represent Wodonga TAFE with integrity, professionalism and accountability while contributing to a positive, high-performing team culture.

Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to:

- Stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Repeatedly enter and exit heavy vehicles.
- Perform manual handling tasks (e.g. securing loads, coupling and uncoupling equipment).
- Operate tools and equipment requiring grip strength and manual dexterity.
- Work in physically demanding conditions, including lifting, bending, and kneeling.

About You

Skills & Experience

- Must be an Australian Citizen to be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance.
- Must be able to undertake a pre-employment medical.
- Full Driver's Licence with minimum HR endorsement with 12 months HR driving experience.




- Willing to obtain a Heavy Combination Licence within a timeframe stipulated on contract acceptance .
- Commitment to completion of TAEASS412, TLIM0011 and other requirements of the Assistant Driving Instructors course.
- Transport industry experience.
