CASUAL, $39.03 PER HOUR (HEW 1)

Overview
We are now accepting expressions of interest for the casual position of Examination Invigilator, based across our City, Joondalup and South West campuses. While relevant experience is desirable, it is not essential, and we welcome applications from suitably qualified and motivated professionals.

This role is particularly suited to individuals seeking regular casual work that can be planned around other professional, business, family, or personal commitments.

Examination periods are scheduled well in advance and published in the University’s Academic Calendar, providing certainty around staffing requirements throughout the year. Successful applicants will join a casual pool of examination invigilators and may be rostered for each examination period.

The Role
As an Examination Invigilator, you will be part of a large team responsible for:

- verifying student identities
- distributing examination materials
- collecting and checking completed examination papers
- following established procedures to monitor students during examinations, ensuring academic integrity is maintained

There may also be opportunities to work within the Examination Distribution Room, assisting with the reconciliation, collation, and delivery of examination materials.

Examination periods occur several times throughout the year, providing ongoing engagement opportunities for those able to make themselves available during these key periods.

Upcoming Semester 2, 2026 dates include:

- Standard Exams: Monday, 9 – Friday, 20 November 2026
- Deferred Exams: Monday, 7 – Friday, 11 December 2026

Each examination session runs for approximately 3 to 5 hours, with up to three sessions scheduled each day between 7:30am and 10:00pm.





We are therefore seeking candidates who can commit to working 4 to 5 days during each examination period and who have flexibility to accept rostered shifts across published dates. This includes availability across both daytime and evening sessions and the ability to work across all Perth metropolitan campuses. Where multiple sessions occur on the same day, invigilators will generally remain at the same campus.

Key Criteria
Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:

- Communicate clearly and confidently with individuals and groups, with a positive level of English proficiency
- Apply sound judgement and problem-solving skills in a structured environment
- Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail while sustaining focus over extended periods
- Work effectively both as part of a team and independently
- Manage tasks efficiently and remain organised within a time-sensitive setting

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry, Courage, and Personal Excellence.

It is important to note that this work requires standing for lengthy periods of time and walking through narrow aisles approximately 60cm in width. Physical labour may be necessary, including:

- Extensive lifting of exam papers of up to 10kg.
- Walking distances of up to 1000m within 15 minutes and negotiating steps or uneven terrain carrying boxes of examination materials.
