Trade Assistant Role
We are seeking a motivated and reliable Trade Assistant to support the operation, maintenance and readiness of Defence training facilities and ranges. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, operating equipment, undertaking maintenance activities, and contributing to a safe and efficient working environment.
Working within a secure Defence environment, you will play a key role in preparing training facilities, maintaining equipment, supporting range operations, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and service delivery.
The pay rate for this position is $41.89 per /hour + Superannuation
Responsibilities Will Include
Preparing, setting up and retrieving targets and range equipmentAssisting with maintenance, repairs to training facilitiesTransporting stores, spare parts and operational equipmentPerforming range support and sentry dutiesAssisting trades and operational teams as requiredMaintaining HSEQ compliance and safe work practicesBuilding positive relationships with Defence personnel and contractorsSupporting the efficient day-to-day operation of training facilities and associated activities
Skills & Experience
A robust commitment to workplace safety and a zero-harm cultureExcellent customer service and communication skillsPractical problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitudeThe ability to work independently and as part of a teamStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing prioritiesExperience working in operational, maintenance, construction, Defence, facilities management or similar environmentsA professional approach when interacting with military personnel, contractors and stakeholders

Forklift LicenceSkid Steer TicketHeavy Rigid (HR) Driver's LicenceWorking at Heights CertificationElevated Work Platform (EWP) LicenceExplosive Ordnance Awareness or Work Safely with Explosives trainingFree From Explosives (FFE) trainingPlastic welding experience (desirable but not essential)
