DMG Partners is looking for an Accountant to join its growing Geelong office. You will work directly with clients, learn from experienced accountants and managers, and take on greater responsibility as your capability develops.

You will not simply prepare a file, pass it up the line and never hear what happened next. You will understand the client, the advice and the story behind the numbers.

CA or CPA qualifications are not essential. You may already be studying, thinking about starting or still deciding what professional development looks like for you. What matters most is that you care about doing good work and want to keep becoming a stronger accountant.

About the opportunity

DMG Partners is an established accounting and financial planning firm supporting individuals, families and businesses through practical advice and long-term relationships.

The Geelong office is relatively new, beautifully presented and in a fantastic Newtown location. The team is small enough for your contribution to be noticed, while the backing of a broader multi-office firm means you will have access to experienced people, established systems and clear development opportunities.

Because the office is still growing, you will have the chance to become part of its foundations rather than simply another name on an organisational chart. You will help build client relationships, contribute to the way the team works and grow alongside the office.

This is a full time role and will be office-based during probation, with flexible hybrid working available thereafter in line with DMG’s policy and the requirements of the role.

What you will be doing

Your week will move between technical accounting work,



client conversations and the practical problem-solving that makes a good accountant genuinely valuable.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing financial statements, income tax returns, BAS and other statutory documents
• Working directly with clients to answer queries and keep matters progressing
• Contributing to tax planning, budgeting, forecasting and business advisory work
• Joining client meetings and becoming a trusted contact over time
• Liaising with the ATO, government agencies and other external stakeholders
• Helping clients navigate accounting software and practical financial questions
• Supporting and reviewing the work of graduates and developing team members
• Identifying better ways to improve processes, systems and client service

What we are looking for

You will have around two to four years’ accounting experience and be comfortable preparing financial statements and tax returns. Experience within public practice would be ideal.

You do not need to know everything. You do need to care about getting things right, ask good questions and follow your work through.

You will be someone who:

• Notices when something does not quite add up
• Can explain technical information without hiding behind accounting jargon
• Enjoys getting to know clients and understanding their businesses
• Takes ownership rather than waiting to be chased
• Works well with others and is happy to share what they know
• Is ready to stretch beyond pure compliance work as their confidence grows

Experience with Xero Practice Manager would be helpful, but it is not essential.

A relevant accounting degree will be highly regarded. CA or CPA qualifications are a bonus rather than a requirement, and support is available for relevant further study.





A current Victorian driver licence, access to a vehicle and a current police check will be required.
