Seeking experienced electricians with maintenance experience for a Perth-based role.
Your new company
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the Facilities and Engineering team at a major public hospital in Perth. This role is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems and equipment across a complex healthcare environment, ensuring critical hospital infrastructure remains safe, compliant and operational 24/7.
Working within a multidisciplinary maintenance team, the successful candidate will contribute to the reliability of essential services that support patient care, including power distribution systems, emergency backup systems, lighting, medical support infrastructure, and building management systems.
Your new role
- Perform planned preventive maintenance and reactive maintenance on hospital electrical assets and infrastructure.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical systems, switchboards, lighting, power circuits and control systems.
- Maintain and test emergency power systems, including generators, UPS systems and essential services infrastructure.
- Inspect, test and certify electrical installations in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and maintain building management systems (BMS), electrical controls and automated equipment.
- Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns, faults and emergency situations.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders and compliance documentation accurately.
- Support contractors and specialist service providers undertaking work on site.
- Participate in on-call and after-hours emergency response rosters as required.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety procedures.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset reliability and service delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
- An unrestricted 'A Grade' electrical licence valid in Western Australia
- WA Driving Licence.
- Demonstrated experience as a Maintenance Electrician in a commercial, industrial, healthcare or critical infrastructure environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of Australian electrical standards, codes and safety regulations.
- Experience with switchboards, motors, control systems and power distribution networks.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic hand tools are required, all electrical tools will be provided.
What you'll get in return
- This is a full-time role (37.5 hours Monday to Friday)
- Overtime available on request (with penalties)
- 3-month temporary position, with the possibility of a 3-month extension
- Proximity to train and bus stations
- Hourly rate $56.38 + penalties
- 12% super (salary sacrifice options available)
