Location: Midland

We’re looking for an Advocate to support parents and families navigating the child protection system – ensuring their voices are heard, their rights are understood, and they are supported through complex and often overwhelming processes.

Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will provide independent, trauma-informed advocacy, information and practical support to birth parents and family members from diverse communities.

Key responsibilities

- Undertake intake, triage and advocacy support

- Support parents through meetings, case planning and decision-making processes

- Manage an outcomes-focused caseload, supporting families to achieve their goals while enabling timely access to support for new referrals

- Provide outreach support, including phone and video support for regional families

- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, data entry and client records

- Contribute to resources, workshops, training and continuous practice improvement

About you

You will bring:

- Relevant qualification (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, Human Services) or substantial relevant experience

- Experience supporting families or individuals navigating complex systems (e.g. child protection, justice, housing or health)

- Understanding of the child protection system and its impacts on families

- Ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and ACCOs

- Ability to work respectfully with individuals and families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds

- Strong communication, organisation and documentation skills





- Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally safe and strengths-based practice

Desirable

- Experience in advocacy, group work, training or community education

- Experience or lived experience navigating child protection systems from a parent or family members perspective

- Experience or lived experience engaging with culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) families and communities

- Experience or lived experience supporting parents or caregivers living with disability, including intellectual or psychosocial disability

Requirements

- Valid driver’s licence

- Roadworthy insured vehicle for work-related travel

- National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)
