Overview
Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospital are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Consultant to join the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) on a part-time, long-term contract basis through to 1 August 2027. This is an opportunity to contribute to emergency care for Adelaide's northern communities.
About the Role
Working within a collegial and well-resourced Emergency Department, you will provide expert clinical leadership and high-quality patient care across the full spectrum of emergency presentations.
Responsibilities
- Deliver consultant-level clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of emergency patients
- Provide supervision and support to junior medical staff, registrars, and nursing colleagues
- Contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and departmental initiatives within NALHN
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and specialist services across the Northern Adelaide network
What You Bring (Qualifications and Experience)
- Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or equivalent specialist qualification recognised in Australia
- Current or eligible registration with AHPRA as a Specialist in Emergency Medicine
- Demonstrated experience working within a public hospital Emergency Department environment
- Solid clinical leadership skills with a commitment to teaching and mentoring
- Understanding of, or experience within, SA Health systems and the South Australian public health context
- Commitment to patient-centred care and culturally safe practice
Eligibility
- Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent
- Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration
- Or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
Remuneration
Total Indicative Remuneration:
$243,212 - $320,467 per annum (pro rata) plus Superannuation and Salary Sacrifice benefits. Temporary Part-Time – 28.125 hours per week, up to 1 August 2027.

You will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including difficult conversations, while building and maintaining relationships. You should be able to manage multiple, diverse priorities and demonstrate resilience in a stressful environment.
