Legeneering is seeking an an experienced General Manager to provide strategic and operational leadership across all projects and business activities within the Energy and Resources portfolio. This role is a critical senior management position within Legeneering, responsible for driving operational performance, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring the safe, efficient, and profitable delivery of services.
This role will work closely with the Executive Team and Board to shape long-term business strategy, lead industrialrelations engagement, and foster a strong, values-driven culture that positions the organisation as a trusted partner within the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all operations within the Energy & Resources division, ensuring safe, high-quality, and commercially successful project outcomes across onshore and offshore environments.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, partners, employees, and key stakeholders to support long-term collaboration and organisational growth.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight of industrial relations, ensuring compliance with legislation, enterprise agreements, and Fair Work obligations.
- Partner with the Executive Team and HR to manage complex employee relations matters and drive consistent, fair, and transparent outcomes.
- Develop and implement operational and business strategies that align with the company’s objectives, focusing on safety, performance, and sustainability.
- Drive commercial performance through effective budgeting, forecasting, and risk management, ensuring profitability and cost control.
- Champion a robust safety culture by promoting accountability, awareness, and continuous improvement in all aspects of operations.
- Lead and mentor departmental managers and supervisors, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and leadership capability across multi-disciplined teams.
- Oversee workforce planning and resource allocation to ensure readiness and flexibility across projects and business units.
- Represent the organisation in client meetings, negotiations, and industry forums to strengthen relationships and market presence.
- Ensure adherence to all legal, contractual, and governance requirements, upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
Position Requirements
- 10+ years experience within the oil and gas (or related) industry.
- Previous experience in a Senior Leadership role within the offshore oil and gas industry.
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Business, Trade or related field.
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight targets and deadlines.
- Strong analytical background with the ability to work under minimal direction / supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills (proven ability to interact,
develop and maintain a positive working relationship with personnel on all levels, both within and external to the company).
- Proven capabilities in problem solving and decision making.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of Project planning and scheduling.
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements and safety standards, as well as risk and hazard management.
- Cultural awareness, respect, and sensitivity regarding First Nations communities.
- You must also have the ability to pass a workplace medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and pass a Maritime Security Identification Card screening process.
