About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.

The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs and models of care for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit oversees key functions of healthcare quality and safety, planning, public health, data and health information management, innovation in service design and development, digital innovation, and clinical excellence.

About the Role?

Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical Quality and Innovation, and working closely with the Clinical Director, the Public Health Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for public health initiatives across the IUIH Network.

This role will lead a skilled team of public health professionals to design, develop, implement and continuously improve public health projects, programs and models of care that support improved health and wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Southeast Queensland.

Working collaboratively with internal teams, Member Services, external partners and key stakeholders, the Public Health Manager will support the integration of public health approaches across planning, service development, quality improvement, health promotion, prevention, data-informed decision-making and system governance.

The role will be central to strengthening IUIH’s public health capability,



ensuring programs are culturally responsive, evidence-informed, well-governed and aligned to the needs of the communities we serve.

Your day-to-day duties will include: Leading, developing and supporting a capable and cooperative Public Health Team to deliver high-quality public health projects and programs across the IUIH Network.

Providing operational oversight of a growing portfolio of public health initiatives, including planning, design, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Overseeing project plans, milestones, deliverables, risks and reporting requirements to ensure programs are delivered on time, within scope and aligned to agreed outcomes.

Contributing to public health-related governance, decision-making and continuous improvement through active participation in IUIH and IUIH Network committees, working groups and forums.

Working closely with clinical, quality, data, planning, communications and service development teams to ensure public health programs are integrated, coordinated and informed by evidence, community need and service priorities.

Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Community, Member Services, government agencies, community partners, service providers, and public health networks.

Supporting the translation of public health priorities into practical, culturally responsive programs, campaigns,



resources and service improvement activities.

Collaborating with the IUIH Communications Team to ensure public health messaging is clear, consistent, culturally appropriate and embedded across relevant campaigns and communications.

Identifying opportunities to strengthen public health systems, processes, reporting and workforce capability across the IUIH Network.

Promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement within the Public Health Team and across related program areas.

Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)

Current Criminal History Check

Valid Blue Card

Public Health Qualification or related field

Desirable, but not mandatory:

Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
