Role Description
The Export Airfreight Operator is a full-time, in office role based in the Greater Perth Area. This role is responsible for coordinating and processing export airfreight shipments from booking through to final departure, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, carrier regulations, and export documentation standards. Day-to-day tasks include preparing air waybills and export documentation, arranging cargo pick-ups and deliveries, liaising with airlines, transport providers, and internal teams, and tracking shipments to meet deadlines. The role also involves managing customer inquiries, providing shipment status updates, resolving operational issues, and maintaining accurate data in logistics systems. The Export Airfreight Operator contributes to continuous improvement by identifying process efficiencies and supporting adherence to company policies, safety standards, and quality procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and issue MAWB/HAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates and other export documentation (e-AWB experience preferred).Make flight bookings, manage capacity and negotiate space with carriers.Coordinate cargo acceptance, ULD/ULD swaps, ramp instructions and special handling (DG, perishables, oversized).Ensure compliance with IATA, airline and export regulations, including DG and security rules.Communicate with customers, agents and carriers on status, ETA/ETD, delays and exceptions.Calculate weights, dimensions, chargeable weight and apply correct tariffs/charges.Monitor shipment performance KPIs and support operational continuous improvement.Cargowise experience is essential.
What we’re looking for
2–4+ years’ air export operations experience with a freight forwarder .Solid knowledge of AWB processes, IATA rules and export compliance.Experience handling DG and special cargo is an advantage.Proficiency with freight management system CargoWise is preferred.Strong organizational skills, problem-solving, and attention to detail.Customer-focused with good verbal and written English communication.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments/tasks concurrently.
