ARC Disability Services is a community-based organisation with over 50 years of experience supporting children and adults with disability, their families, and support networks throughout Cairns.
We are currently recruiting Permanent Part-Time and Casual Disability Support Workers to join our growing teams. We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and experienced individuals who are committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support.
We have an immediate need for Support Workers who are available for sleepover and weekend shifts, with several current vacancies requiring regular overnight and weekend availability.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to people with disability in their homes and community environments, assisting them to achieve their goals, build independence, and live fulfilling lives.
We have opportunities across a variety of support environments, including:
- Home and Living, Direct Supports and Programs
- Community access and participation
- Personal care and daily living assistance
- Active overnight sleepover shifts
- Early morning, day, evening, weekend and public holiday shifts
- Short and extended shift opportunities
- Supports requiring behavioural and complex care experience
Current Staffing Priorities
We are particularly seeking Support Workers who can:
- Complete regular sleepover shifts
- Work weekend rosters
- Provide coverage for planned and unplanned leave
- Support participants with personal care and manual handling requirements
- Assist participants with complex support needs and behavioural supports
Key Responsibilities
- Personal care and hygiene support
- Community access and social participation
- Medication assistance
- Mealtime support and PEG feeding assistance
- Manual handling and mobility assistance
- Supporting daily living skills including meal preparation, budgeting, shopping and household tasks
- Transport to appointments and community activities
- Documentation, case notes and reporting
- Positive Behaviour Support implementation
- Working collaboratively with participants, families and allied health professionals
We are looking for support workers who are:
- Reliable, professional and dependable
- Excellent communicators with strong interpersonal skills
- Able to maintain appropriate personal and skilled boundaries
- Flexible and available for sleepovers, weekends, fill-in shifts and varied rosters
- Confident working both independently and as part of a team
- Committed to person-centred and strengths-based support

Essential Requirements
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Registered and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or able to obtain.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (Yellow Card) or able to obtain.
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
- Working rights within Australia
