About the Opportunity

The Executive Managing Prosecutor (EMP) leads the ODPP Prosecution Team working in close partnership with the Executive Managing Solicitor, the Executive Manager Serious & Complex Crime and the Director and Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions. The role operates in a complex, high-volume criminal justice environment that requires balancing operational management with the personal conduct of the most complex and sensitive criminal matters before the courts.

The primary purpose:

- the management of all facets of the ODPP Prosecutions Team;
- leadership and management of the Managing Prosecutor and the Managing Prosecutor (Professional Development) to ensure that workloads of Prosecution Team staff are monitored and manageable; all human resources functions are undertaken appropriately;
- oversight of legal work across the Prosecution Team (with the exception of appeals and those matters within the Serious & Complex Crime Section) including opinions;
- legal supervision within Prosecution Team including on allocated files as the primary senior point of contact for Prosecutors conducting those matters;
- the conduct of allocated matters in the Supreme Court, District Court and other courts including the more lengthy/ complex /sensitive trials within the ODPP practice;
- as a member of the ODPP Executive, contributing to the formulation of ODPP policy and practice matters in collaboration with the Director, Deputy Director,



and Executive members;
- promotion of safe work practices, wellbeing and diversity within the workplace.

The ODPP was established through the Director of Public Prosecutions Act, 1991 to provide an effective, fair and independent criminal prosecution service for the people of South Australia. Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
