Senior / Principal HV Transmission Line Designer

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior / Principal HV Transmission Line Designer to join our team. This is a strategic role backed by secured project work, and we are flexible on location across Australia for the right candidate. You will play a pivotal role in delivering major high-voltage infrastructure projects and ensuring successful, high-quality outcomes for our clients nationwide.

With significant growth since inception in 2015, AIE now employees 40+ engineers of various disciplines across NSW, VIC, QLD, WA and NZ where we service Asset Owners and Operators in the Renewables, Mining, Rail, Water Utilities, Power Generation and Maritime spaces. Role Details:

- Full Time

- Flexible within Australia - Office-Based

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the design and assessment of transmission line infrastructure from 66kV to 500kV.

- Develop and maintain transmission line models using PLS-CADD, lattice tower models using PLS-TOWER, and pole models using PLS-POLE.

- Perform line optimization, conductor selection, clearance assessments, and structure utilization tracking.

- Develop transmission line construction methodologies, stringing sequencing, and complete construction load assessments (CLA).

- Assess temporary loading scenarios during stringing, OPGW installation, tensioning operations, and temporary rigging (including gin poles and mobile cranes).





- Complete induction assessments and structural capacity evaluations for network augmentations on existing assets.

- Prepare detailed design documentation, engineering recommendations for asset remediation, and review/certify engineering deliverables.

Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline).

- Proven track record in high-voltage (66kV to 500kV) transmission line design within the Australian power sector.

- Advanced, practical mastery of the PLS suite (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER) is essential.

- Strong understanding of construction engineering, temporary works design, and structural load testing.

- Experience with helicopter construction methodologies is highly desirable.

- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.

- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or eligibility is highly regarded.
