This is a newly established Position in the People Strategy and Operations division for 12-months working in a small team-oriented team to help drive fair, high-quality employment opportunities. Working closely with the Workforce Mobility Leads across the People Services and Policy Workplace Relations branches, the Workforce Mobility Consultant contributes to the development and continuous improvement of workforce mobility policy, process and redeployment programs for the department for surplus employees. You will support the delivery of workforce mobility services, including redeployment, management of unattached employees, and the implementation of related processes, policy and reporting requirements. You will help resolve complex HR and workforce issues, support workforce mobility in response to the department's changing needs and help design and streamline processes to improve stakeholder experience across the Departments' s VPS Corporate workforce.
You Will
- Support the delivery of redeployment programs by building collaborative stakeholder relationships, tracking employee progress, and contributing to program reporting and outcomes.
- Engage with surplus employees, hiring managers and key stakeholders, providing advice on recruitment processes, preparing data and reporting, and helping to ensure a positive experience for all parties.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of standard operating procedures and guidance material for redeployment programs.
- Apply knowledge of departmental and VPS policies,
frameworks and employment agreements to support fair, consistent and compliant recruitment outcomes.
- Identify, investigate and help resolve complex people matters using sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Use strong written and verbal communication skills to work collaboratively with the broader team in responding to a range of policy, recruitment and workforce mobility requests and enquiries in a timely manner.
- Contribute to change initiatives and continuous improvement activities to support effective workforce mobility processes and stakeholder experience.
About You
The successful candidates will possess:
- Demonstrated experience working with people, policies, processes and systems such as eduPay, Springboard, ServiceNow, or similar HR systems.
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of workforce change processes and impacts, including Machinery of Government changes, redeployment and end-to-end recruitment activity.
- Experience supporting collaboration across teams, including working with colleagues in the People, Strategy and Operations Division on sensitive people matters.
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing competing priorities while maintaining strong team relationships.
- High attention to detail,
with strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately and with discretion.
- Well-developed relationship management skills, with the ability to support and guide employees and hiring managers.
- Sound judgement and strong organisational skills, with the ability to interpret information and communicate advice clearly.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse issues, troubleshoot and contribute to evidence-based solutions.
- A flexible and adaptable approach, with experience supporting change initiatives, system improvements or process enhancements.
Knowledge and understanding of VPS policies, procedures, and practices is highly desirable.
