Data Analyst - Advanced Excel – initial 3 Month Contract (View to Permanent)

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Data and Compliance Analyst to join their Sydney team on an initial 3 month contract, with strong potential to convert to permanent.

This is an excellent opportunity for a data and compliance skilled with financial markets experience to join a highly regulated trading environment and work closely with key stakeholders across compliance, risk, legal, and front office teams.

About the role

This is a hands-on second line Data and compliance role focused on regulatory oversight, market surveillance, control testing, and compliance advisory across a financial markets business.

You will be responsible for ensuring the organisation operates in accordance with ASIC, ASX, AUSTRAC, and internal regulatory obligations, while supporting ongoing monitoring across trading and clearing activities.

Key Responsibilities-

- Provide compliance advice to business stakeholders on regulatory and risk matters
- Interpret regulatory changes and assess impact on products, services, and clients
- Monitor trading activity across equities and futures markets for suspicious patterns
- Conduct compliance control testing and surveillance reviews
- Prepare regulatory reports and lodgements to ASIC, ASX,



and AUSTRAC
- Investigate potential breaches, suspicious matters, and elevate where required
- Maintain compliance registers, policies, and procedures
- Support AML/CTF risk assessments for client onboarding and ongoing reviews Deliver compliance training and awareness support to internal teams

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

- min 2-3 years’ Data Analysis/ compliance experience ideally within financial markets, trading, brokerage, banking, exchanges, or regulated financial services
- Strong understanding of market integrity obligations in trading environments
- Ability to identify anomalies, suspicious trading patterns, and compliance risks
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong Excel and data analysis capability
