IT Infrastructure Engineer
Build the technology that keeps our global mission connected. Every mission flight begins long before an aircraft leaves the ground. Behind each remote airstrip, emergency medical evacuation, and team serving in isolated communities is a secure, reliable technology network making it all possible. We are looking for an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer to design, support, and strengthen the technology that keeps our global ministry connected.
Who Are We?
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) has been bringing help, hope, and healing to isolated communities for more than 80 years. Operating more than 116 aircraft across 30+ countries, we use aviation and technology to overcome barriers that prevent people from accessing healthcare, education, disaster relief, and the Gospel. Our global technology infrastructure keeps our people connected, our operations secure, and our mission moving.
Location: Office Based Role – Cairns, Australia.
- Applicants must have the current, legal right to work in Australia. Acceptance of and adherence to MAF’s purpose, vision and values is an essential condition of employment. A criminal history check will also be completed as part of the process.
What You’ll Be Doing
As our IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will be the technical expert behind the systems that keep MAF connected across the globe. Working alongside our international IT team, you will design, support, and continually improve the infrastructure that enables staff, aircraft, and programmes to operate safely and effectively in remote locations.
- Designing, implementing, and supporting MAF’s global infrastructure, networking, cloud, and communications environments.
- Managing and optimising networking, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, VoIP telephony, and secure connectivity across multiple countries.
- Supporting Microsoft Azure,
Kubernetes, virtualisation platforms, Windows Server, Linux, and cloud infrastructure.
- Championing infrastructure security, resilience, disaster recovery, and continual improvement.
- Leading infrastructure upgrades, lifecycle planning, and technology projects that strengthen global operations.
- Acting as the technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues while mentoring and supporting colleagues across the IT team.
- Helping shape MAF’s future technology strategy by evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation.
Beyond designing networks and managing servers, every secure connection and resilient system you build keeps mission teams connected and pilots flying safely into isolated communities. The infrastructure you create becomes the foundation that enables MAF’s mission around the world.
What We Offer
When you join MAF, you won’t just become part of an IT team. You’ll become part of a global mission. You’ll work alongside talented colleagues across multiple countries who value collaboration, innovation, knowledge sharing, and serving one another. We invest in our people, encourage career development, and create opportunities to contribute to meaningful projects with global impact. Our One Team, One Mission culture encourages building and maintaining the technology that enables aircraft to fly, teams to stay connected, and programmes to serve isolated communities.
Applications close Sunday, 16th August 2026,
with the successful candidate expected to commence in October 2026.
