Your Opportunity

As an Examining Surveyor, you'll apply your surveying and cadastral expertise to support the integrity of the NSW land titles system through complex boundary definition assessments, technical advice, investigations, reviews and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a unique surveying opportunity that differs from traditional field-based roles. Rather than undertaking site inspections or extensive fieldwork, you'll operate in a highly consultative and technical environment, providing expert guidance on complex cadastral, boundary and land titling matters.

Working closely with surveyors, industry professionals, customers and government stakeholders, you'll help ensure the consistent application of legislative, regulatory and Registrar General requirements while contributing to examiner capability, industry engagement and digital transformation initiatives. You'll play a key role in shaping quality outcomes across NSW's land titling framework, influencing industry practice and supporting confidence in one of the state's most critical land information systems. Your Responsibilities

Provide expert surveying, cadastral and boundary definition advice to examiners, surveyors, stakeholders and customers,



ensuring consistent decision-making and the integrity of NSW land title records.

Assess and resolve complex boundary definition matters through the interpretation and application of surveying legislation, regulations, Registrar General’s Directions, policies and precedents.

Lead investigations, reviews and dispute resolution activities, including complex customer complaints and boundary-related matters, providing evidence-based recommendations and technical advice.

Build strong relationships with industry, government and qualified stakeholders to support the consistent application of land titling and surveying requirements.

Contribute specialist expertise to quality assurance programs, business improvements, system enhancements and examination process transformation initiatives.

Mentor and support examiners through technical guidance, knowledge sharing and capability-building activities to drive consistency and service excellence.

Identify emerging industry issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance surveying standards and the quality of plans submitted for registration.

About

You To be successful in this role you will: Tertiary qualifications in Surveying or a related discipline, and current registration as a surveyor in NSW.

Minimum 5 years post registration experience will be highly regarded.

Extensive knowledge of surveying, cadastral boundary definition, land titling principles, and relevant legislation, regulations, policies and Registrar General requirements,



with demonstrated experience providing clear technical advice on complex matters.

Demonstrated experience using cadastral and land titling systems and providing subject matter expertise to support digital transformation, system enhancements, business process improvement and the adoption of new ways of working.

Experience supporting organisational change initiatives including the adoption of new systems, processes and ways of working.

Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach and support the development of technical capability and decision-making consistency within specialist and operational teams.

Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams and communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Advanced analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, exercise sound judgement and resolve complex boundary definition, examination and review matters.

Demonstrated understanding of governance, due diligence and decision-making frameworks, including experience conducting reviews, investigations and providing evidence-based recommendations to support best practice administrative decision-making.
