Position Description - Residential Care Officer (ANZSCO 411715) Our client is a well-established registered Australian NDIS provider delivering individualised in-home care and supported independent living accommodation, located in Underwood, Queensland.

They now seek a Residential Care Officer to join their operations in Underwood, Queensland.

The Role This is a full-time role with an annual salary of $80,000 - $100,000 plus superannuation, and involves the following tasks:

- Build strong relationships with various support, community, and clinical groups, allied health and medical team.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality outcomes.
- Work closely with intake staff to match participants.
- Roaster, allocate and train support staff to meet each participant's needs, monitoring work practices and escalating any concerns to management.
- Build staff capability and wellbeing, including coaching on positive risk-taking, applying the NDIS Workforce Capability Framework, and monitoring for burnout and workplace risk factors such as high turnover or shift changeovers.
- Collaborate and consult with the participant on a required staff member.
- Undertake a review of environment and staff with the participant.
- Guide and adjust work practices using a positive approach to coaching and build capacity in participants as relevant.
- Focus on supporting participants to direct their lives, not just their services (for example, crisis and resilience development).
- Assist participants in developing knowledge, experience, and connection with their community and broader systems of support.
- Coach the participant through challenges.
- Model and reinforce values in organisational culture and practice.
- Assist participants in working towards their NDIS goals.
- Adhere to the NDIS code of conduct.

- Assess participants' needs and contribute to the development, planning and implementation of individual support, training and skill-development programs.
- Interview and consult with participants to assess the nature and extend of their support needs and any difficulties they face.
- Monitor and report on participants' progress towards their goals and support needs.
- Refer participants to other agencies, allied health professionals or specialist services for additional health where required.
- Assess community need and resources for health, welfare, housing, employment,



training and other facilities and services related to participants.
- Prepare reports, and contribute to funding submissions, to government bodies and other agencies regarding participant support needs and service outcomes.

Requirements

- An AQF associate degree, advanced diploma, diploma, or higher qualification in in Individual Support, Community Services, Disability, or equivalent qualification
- At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Residential Care Officer within community or residential care setting
- At least 2 years' experience supporting clients with daily living activities, personal care, and behavioural support needs
- At least 2 years' experience implementing care plans, support programs, and case documentation requirements
- At least 2 years' experience working with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare professionals, case managers, and families
- At least 2 years' experience managing challenging behaviours and responding to incidents in care environments
- Strong knowledge of care standards, safeguarding requirements, and workplace health and safety procedures
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation including case notes, incident reports, and care records
- Valuable communication skills and ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and support teams
- Ability to work independently and manage responsibilities in a structured care environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and client-focused approach
- Demonstrated organisational and communication skills required to efficiently operate independently and within a team.
- Demonstrated experience managing relationships with businesses, customers, and various stakeholders prevalent in the community and personal services industry.
