This highly regarded Australian consulting firm partners with Defence and Federal Government agencies to deliver complex, technology-enabled capability programs. Fusing technical depth with strategic insight, the business works at the intersection of digital engineering, model-based systems design, and emerging technologies — helping clients enhance capability and mission outcomes across some of Australia's most significant national programs.

As the firm continues to scale its Data & Digital Engineering division, it is seeking a Senior Manager or Principal Consultant-level Model-Based Systems Engineer to do two things simultaneously: deliver against an active, high-profile Defence engagement and help build the firm's MBSE capability as a credible, revenue-generating practice pillar.

This is not a role for a practitioner content to execute within a fixed scope. Roughly 80% of the role is billable delivery — embedded within a current Defence program focused on capability realisation and systems engineering — with the remaining 20% dedicated to practice development: shaping the firm's MBSE methodology, tooling standards, and go-to-market positioning. The person who lands this role will have real influence over what the practice becomes.

Working under the direct mentorship of a recognised and commercially successful industry leader, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality consulting outcomes, building trusted client relationships, and taking the firm's MBSE solutions to a broader Defence market.

Key Responsibilities





- Lead and contribute to MBSE delivery across Defence and Government programs — applying systems engineering principles to requirements engineering, configuration management, systems architecture, and capability realisation
- Work with client teams to integrate and align modelling and data environments, including PLM/CM platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter or equivalent
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to senior Defence stakeholders, translating complex modelling concepts into actionable recommendations
- Contribute to the establishment of the firm's MBSE pillar — methodology, tooling standards, delivery frameworks, and thought leadership
- Bring networks and commercial instincts to support business development, identifying opportunities where MBSE capability can be taken to market
- Mentor junior consultants and engineers; contribute to proposals, tenders, and RFQ responses

Ideal Background

- Substantial experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within a Defence, Defence industry, or Federal Government context — across multiple programs, not a single engagement
- Demonstrated leadership of systems engineering delivery — team management, technical authority, chief engineer or equivalent function
- Proficiency with one or more MBSE/digital engineering platforms: Siemens Teamcenter,



Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Vitech GENESYS, CORE, or Capella
- Background in one or more of: systems architecture, requirements engineering, configuration management, digital engineering, capability development/realisation
- Consulting acumen — comfortable operating client-facing, shaping engagements, and contributing to pre-sales and BD activity
- Australian citizen, eligible to hold an AGSVA security clearance at NV1 level or above (existing clearance strongly preferred)
- Prior experience in Navy, Maritime, Air or Land capability programs is advantageous
