About the Role

- Work as a Maintenance Officer in remote locations, supporting aged care services across Indigenous and regional communities.
- Carry out hands‑on maintenance duties, ensuring facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents, staff, and visitors.
- Perform general repairs, preventative maintenance, and timely responses to maintenance requests.
- Support the upkeep of the facility grounds, including gardening, equipment operation, and basic vehicle care.
- Apply strong WHS knowledge, safe work practices, and accurate record‑keeping in all tasks.
- Work independently and proactively to maintain essential building, equipment, and environmental standards.

Core Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repairs

- General handyman skills (painting, carpentry, basic repairs)
- Preventative and reactive maintenance
- Basic plumbing tasks (e.g. replacing washers, connecting appliances)
- Basic electrical knowledge (e.g. testing power points, replacing batteries)
- Safe use and maintenance of tools, equipment,



and vehicles
- Identifying and reporting major repair needs

Grounds & Facility Care

- Garden and landscaping maintenance
- Operation of machinery (mowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws)
- Irrigation/reticulation maintenance
- Cleaning and upkeep of facility vehicles

Safety & Compliance

- Strong understanding of WHS requirements
- Risk assessment and safe equipment handling
- Accurate record‑keeping and maintenance logs
- Coordination and supervision of contractors when required

Position Requirements

- Formal trade qualification or extensive practical experience demonstrating competent trade skills
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Minimum 2 years' experience in building or site maintenance (preferred)
- Understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and secure chemical handling
- Demonstrated experience with hand tools, machinery, and equipment
- Ability to live and work in remote locations for the duration of the contract
