About the role
The City of Swan is proud to support a vibrant and diverse community, with a strong foundation in youth development and engagement. We’re looking for an organised, proactive and community minded Youth Facilities Officer to join our Youth Development team.
As the Youth Facility Officer, you will be the welcoming face of the youth centre, providing outstanding customer service while support the efficient operation of the facility. You will play a key role in promoting our programs, coordinating bookings, maintaining the centre, and ensuring visitors have a positive experience.
All Youth Development programs and facilities aim to provide safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for young people to socialise, engage in recreation, and participate in their local community. The position is available on a permanent part time basis (up to 38 hours per fortnight).
As a Youth Facilities Officer, you will:
Be responsible for establishing a friendly, proficient, and effective customer service, while increasing awareness and assisting with the promotion of the City’s youth development programs and the facilities available.
The Youth Facilities Officer will also manage the resources and spaces available to other community members and groups, building partnerships and ensuring positive outcomes while meeting internal and external expectations to assist in the long-term sustainability of programs for young people, room hire and community initiatives.
This role works within industry standards associated with working with young people and in accordance with all relevant City of Swan Youth Development’s Codes of Practice, guidance notes and relevant City of Swan policies and procedures.
Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to;
- Coordinate and administer bookings and procedures for all hireable spaces via the computer booking management system in accordance with the City practices and procedures and the EYC Management plan.
- Liaise with those requesting room hire to determine requirements and to coordinate the use of audio and sound equipment, furniture, and other centre equipment required.
- Support the Coordinator Youth Development - by assisting with projects within agreed budgets, timelines and following all local government financial and procurement processes.
- As directed, liaise effectively with the City Communications and Engagement team to promote activities, events,
programs and services at the EYC to ensure the Centre operates to optimum capacity.
- As directed coordinate maintenance and cleaning of the Youth Centre to ensure that the Centre is always presented to a high standard, liaising with contractors and relevant City staff as required.
- Provide relevant reports to the Coordinator Youth Development and Youth Development Officer - Ellenbrook relating to the use of facilities and equipment.
- Supervise young people accessing and participating in programs and activities in the EYC as required.
About you
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Demonstrable extensive experience in high-pressure customer service environment
- Effective conflict resolution skills and considerable experience in dealing with the public
- Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills for communication with clients and the public, with a demonstrated commitment and passion to provide a high standard of customer service
- Experience working with young people from diverse backgrounds and those with challenging behaviours
- Demonstrated experience in using Microsoft Office suite, and a sound understanding of relevant bookings management software and sound financial processes experience
- High standard of time management and organisational skills
- Experience configuring and maintaining facilities and programs booking management software
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate
- Current ‘C’ Class driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
- Current Working with Children Check

The salary for this position will be from $72,362.16 - $87,036.08 per annum pro rata, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
